The Magi Method is an original system of fortune telling for use with an ordinary deck of 52 playing cards plus 2 jokers. The Magi Method finds its foundation in the wisdom of the sages beginning with the Magi present during the age of the kings and finding expression with the 3 Magi present at the birth of the savior Jesus Christ. • This is by far the best book that I have read on divination using playing cards
This is by far the best book that I have read on divination using playing cards. I have read many and none of them really worked for me. I have been reading the Tarot for over 20 years and that is what has been comfortable for me. I have an old deck that was handed down to me from my Grandmother who received them when she was young from her aunt. My deck is at least 100 yrs old and never used for anything but reading the cards. I sooooo wanted to use this deck. I feel my Grandmother's spirit in them. I put them aside because I just couldn't find a system that worked well for me until now. Joseph Magi's method is so easy to learn. I started reading accurately right away and don't have to flip through the book to look up meanings. My cards speak to me. Joseph also has a Facebook group which is a lot of fun and you can learn along with other readers. His videos on YouTube are fantastic. I do not see any bias in the readings he did. The cards say what they say. It is honestly hard to bend the meanings. Tarot it is easier to bend the meanings to what you want the cards to say, but in the playing cards, it is more difficult because they are pretty much blunt in their meaning. One reviewer said that Joseph's readings were bias (ex: about Trump) I just feel that maybe they didn't like what the cards message was. I did not see any "bending" of the meanings. Yes, the deck and book have a Christian tone to them. But again, that is at the reader's discretion. To me, it makes the system more spiritual. I love the feelings I receive when reading with his system. I do have his deck on order and should have them in a day or so. I will use both his deck and that which my Grandmother gave me. Any who.... you don't have to use Christian meanings per say... just use the keywords and let your intuition guide you. I highly recommend this book and his deck too for anyone wanting to expand their divinatory tool box. I will still use my Tarot too, but let the Divine tell me which to use, but so glad I bought this book. The playing cards work best with specific questions. I find that my Tarot cards work better for me on every day general readings with no question in mind. ... show more

  • Interesting
A good way to learn another use for one’s regular playing cards.

  • Struck Me as a Modified LeNormand System
This card system struck me as a modified LeNormand system or, perhaps more accurately, an attempt to rectify LeNormand images with the number and suit symbolism of playing cards, and then to add in other images to bring the LeNormand deck of 36 up to 54 (52 cards plus 2 Jokers). Many LeNormand images make an appearance here. For instance, the Scourge (Whip), the Cross, the Coffin, the Clover, the Tower, the Birds, Fox, Snake, For the cards that needed additional images to bring the deck up to 54, many of the images are Christian -- Water into Wine (8 of Hearts), Scapegoat (8 of Spades), Veil (7 of Spades), Finger of God (7 of Diamonds), Star of Bethlehem (7 of Hearts), the Olive Tree (6 of Clubs), Cornerstone (4 of Diamonds), Trinity (3 of Diamonds), Mustard Seed (Ace of Clubs). Too Christian for my liking. The book did have some very good examples of cards in combination, as well as good sample readings. If you are looking to investigate card reading, and are rather Christian in outlook, this may be a good book for you. I purchased the Kindle version, for between $7-$8 and, if you are going to use this as your textbook for learning cartomancy, then it is worth that price. It is the kind of book, though, that you probably want to have in nondigital form, so you can have it for easy reference. I always find flipping through a physical book easier than using digital search functions to find something. I am not sure, though, whether this book will be published in nondigital form -- Amazon currently does not list one. If you are already working with some other system of playing card cartomancy -- Russell, Martello, Hedgewytchery, etc. (or any of the more recent "authorities" who have appropriated or adapted their systems from such) -- I would advise you to stick with that system, and not jump to a new one just for the sake of experimentation. You will most likely only cloud your subconscious mind -- never good idea when attempting to see the future. ... show more

  • Grab the book, Avoid the partisan online classes; too 'Enquirer' for me...
Excellent. Checked it out because I've always wanted to learn the playing cards as an oracle. Easy to read, understand, and explained and taught in such a way I almost felt as though the author was there teaching me in person, lol. I use this system exclusively and even watched his YouTube sessions, though I'm starting to stay away from them just because I'd rather not have to listen to the guy's political views color too much of the readings...I always think they have no place in the spiritual realm--Jesus himself wanted us to have nothing to do with it, and here I see why, its so divisive, so I've just tried to watch the celebrity readings (but sometimes it sneaks in even then...sigh.). Also, I liked it better in the old days when he used the playing cards exclusively, after all, its why I got the book in the first place, but then he made a Magi deck with pictures on them (much like the Lenormand) and uses those exclusively. Not a problem, really, just that for me the magic was in the mundane look of ordinary cards. If I wanted Lenormand, or Tarot, I would've gotten those, but. The book however, I recommend thoroughly, as it is to the point and the system is great. Enjoy! ... show more
