  • Could Not Be Happier
I usually do not take the time to write reviews, but I think this product should receive some good feedback. Planet audio has actually been around a long time and has some really good products. I installed this amplifier in my dodge neon along with two Quantum audio QAW10D4 subwoofers rated 2500W each in a ported box. This amp has 4awg power connectors which I think is the only drawback. It should have 1/0 connectors. it comes with a 200A ANL external fuse with all hardware and mounting accessories. Some sites and forums are saying it has 4 40A fuses, but that is incorrect. The amp is rather large and very well built. It has 3500W RMS at 1 ohm, 5000max which is probably why it has that large of a fuse. It has good ventilation all around and underneath. The sound is very clean and so far I have not hit the audible distortion point and I definitely have not hit clipping, although I have not tried to push it that far yet. All of my deck bass levels and sub levels are flat at 0. no bass boost on the amp or deck, just everything on the bass side set flat. You will definitely require an upgraded electrical system and alternator. I have a dual Optima battery setup running 1/0awg cabling through the car and Monster 4awg to the amp. I have a 5 farad cap just to ease the snap load on the 150A alternator. I have the gain only at half way and the bass knob also at half. No bass boost or other junk. With this setup, my entire car is flexing and all of my mirrors are useless. The rear-view mirror keeps falling at quarter volume. With the proper electrical upgrades, speakers, deck, etc. I believe that you will be very satisfied with this amp in no less than a mid to high end audio system. UPDATE: So it has been TWO YEARS since I have had this amp. three months ago I upgraded my subs to two Quantum audio Q3000/12D in a custom ported five cubic foot box with two 4" ports. I run it hard usually every day and it is still going strong and pushes the new subs to the limit. I am hitting over 140DB on a Term Lab meter. My friend also bought one and his is still going and he does competitions using a custom built 15" Digital Designs with three spiders, huge magnet and capable of 5K RMS, burp of 8K. He is hitting over 143DB. ... show more

  • Great buy can't go wrong.
I have this amp running on 2 12's wired @ 4 ohm. Strong amp no issues runs very cool does everything they say it will do. I also have the 1200w 4 channel running my mid and highs with 0 gauge wire feeding a 20 farad cap then distibuting power to both of these beasts through 4 gauge. With them running wide open I only get voltage as low as 13.7v with no extra battery and just my stock charging system. these things are not power hogs but produce great clean sound. I recommend this amp and any of the other planet audio equipment to anyone. I have been putting sound systems together for close to 20 years. Great buy for the cost. You will definitely not be disappointed!!!! ... show more

  • Reliable for around $200
As many have mentioned, more than likely not a true 5k amp. I've noticed that the title only says 1800k now which is more accurate. But regardless it taps out 2 Skar 12" Vxf and has been hitting everyday for a year. No issues whatsoever. Update 12/8/22 Still tapping out my Skar Vxf 12" years later. Never once over heated or blew a fuse. ... show more

  • SLEEPER AMP!!! Best buy on the market hands down!!!!
Ok, so I've had this since July, And in the questions above these reviews, there is one thing I'm not understanding and that is why all these people are saying it's not putting out the rms? one says; "Question: will this amp be too much for 3-8" skar ma8's? Answer: Yea but the amp is only putting out like 1800 rms not even By mark smith on November 6, 2015" I ask at what ohm load is Mr. Smith running at? another says; "Question: Can it pick up 2 L7 kicker 15" square type new style Answer: Actually bought it for those , wasn't impressed. True wattage with good power I'd only about 2300 optimal. Look into sound stream, digital design or kicker amps. By nathan file on October 8, 2015" Again I must ask at what ohm load? I'm running 2 sundown sa-12's and 2 old school rockford 10's at 0.5 ohms on this amp flawlessly. hits hard as a mo around 150db here. so I must ask @ what ohm load are these n00bs running it at. yes it's more than enough for those skar 8's you want more than enough rather than not enough power. Under powering your drivers can damage them in the long run. This amp rocks I was running everything at a one ohm load for break in and it was pushing everything hard as hell with the gain set around half and every thing else turned all the way down. Oh yea the reason it don't have fuses is because you have to run your own in line from the battery, I have a big fat 250amp fuse between my secondary batteries and the amp. This is a big boy's amp just a sleeper!! ... show more

  • Power hungry.
Well here we go I purchased this amp almost 2 months ago. I had it my subs ran at one ohm and the amp fried and smoked within ten minutes. Didnt even have time to get hot. So I returned and received another shortly after. So the defective rate is high. I've had the new one running 2 type r alpine 3000 watt max running at 2 ohms. Boy do these things bang with this amp. This amp is power hungry plan on upgrading your alternator and get a cap as well. I went from a 136 amp alt to a 250 amp and it still struggles a little. I also have the 2400 by 4 amp running my mids and highs. So 7400 watts total so the amps say. I don't think they push the watts they claim. But for the price the performance is there. If you don't receive a defective amp. Good luck 50/50 shot at what your gonna get. The plus is the return will go smooth and you will receive a new amp in a few days. ... show more

  • Worth every penny, and then some, at $130
Definitely not putting out anywhere near 5k watts, or even 3k, but its pushing two $650 12" Kicker Solo L7s without breaking a sweat. It was an amazing buy and saved me a ton of money on my build. Highly recommended. EDIT: Almost two years later and this thing is still a beast. I don't understand all the negative reviews. It hasn't ever let me down, and it gives the woofers the power they need to make my chest hurt so good. I had it professionally installed and paired it with a Shuriken 2400w 120amp hour battery just to make sure it had the power it wants/needs to perform, whether the car is running or not. ... show more
