    • A good quality touch screen at a decent price
It's a crisp display with reliable touch and solid build. The colors are good and it has a nice wide viewing angle. When unlocked, it's easy to inadvertently activate the screen's menu control and power buttons at the lower right of the screen. Fortunately these can be locked so that this is not a problem. As of Sept 1, 2019, Pi 4 with the default Raspbian required a small configuration tweak to get the touchscreen to work well. (Append 'usbhid.mousepoll=0' as a boot parameter in /boot/cmdline.txt. This also fixed a problem with another mouse. Other linux setups may or may not require something similar.) With that change, the touch screen works perfectly in chromium browser and other apps that expect multitouch input. It also works fine with non-multitouch apps (though I haven't yet figured how to turn on right mouse button emulation for those apps). Overall, this makes a very nice desktop monitor. It's not super portable because it can't easily be powered by a battery (it requires AC), and it's also a little heavy. But it's a good desktop touch screen. This screen is sleek, and gives a clean look to my desk, as no stand is required -it balances well and stays sturdy on its built in supports; screen images were beautiful with out of the box settings, even better with adjustments, and the touch response worked as it should- including for gaming; glad I did my research, would (and did) recommend it. ... show more

    • Excellent monitor for the size, touch works nicely
This is a pretty nice monitor for the size. This is mainly used for watching security cameras with Blue Iris. Very sharp image and high contrast. Be aware that this has a very glossy screen so if you intend to use this in a bright area, that could be an issue. I have this mounted on a VESA desk stand so I cannot comment on the built-in stand but it seems good. The monitor's side and top bezels are fairly thin at about 1/4 an inch. Touch controls work fine in Windows 10 and pretty responsive. You do have to plug the included USB cable into your computer for this to work. What is not so great is the touch-based controls. They can be triggered too easily and a bit of a chore to use. Real physical buttons would have been a lot better. PROS: Multi-touch control capable Sharp image, high contrast The trifecta of video inputs: VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort Nice of them to include a DisplayPort cable and cable wrap CONS: Speaker audio quality (it's better than nothing) Power & Monitor controls are touch-based as opposed to physical buttons ... show more

    • Died <2 years, but still really like
TL;DR: it's worth the start up investment for short term gain. I have two of these (Helium) and 1st one no longer displays any image after 1y8mos, but powers on. I would still recommend the purchase given the size and (at the time) price. More detail for folks like me who read wayyyy too many of these: Purchased a pair of these during the early days of the pandemic (April 2020) for data work. My work computer at the time was running Win10 and I had no issues using all features right out of the box with this connected to a dock for all the various outputs they came with. Dual monitors allowed me to work with both screens for web and AWS + the smaller laptop screen for messaging and email. It was glorious! After hours, I would switch to my personal computer and browse the web or try new recipes using just the touchscreen function to keep my keyboard (mostly) clean. Late in 2020, I moved jobs and then apartments, where I connected just one monitor due to a smaller workspace, put the other one in a cupboard. The one mainly in use (no touch screen as these did not play well with my Macbook Pro or Air) was not moved from its original location, but stopped working entirely in December of 2021. I have tried a few HDMI cords and different laptops with no change in result. I fetched the second one, which is what I am using to write this review. The color is still great, there is no lag in function and I'm glad I got two for when I needed them. I now have a 34 inch widescreen and would like to rotate the functioning Planar so that it works in vertical mode, but gotta get a stand for that. I've heard great things about the VESA mounts for these specifically, but don't really feel like getting into that much labor rn, so if I can find a regular prop-type stand, I'll be going for that.
