I bought this telescope as a gift for a friend's eight year old son and didn't expect much. However, when checking the device out upon it's very quick arrival, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the image. The scope's magnification when fully extended is approx. 25X when compared to my Leupold 25X spotting scope. It's field of view is a bit less and not as bright, as my spotting scope has a 50mm objective. However, for $20 you can't expect too much. One reviewer here stated this scope is less than 10X which is false, unless he/she got a defective unit. This product is so good, I'm getting one for myself and keeping it in my car as a backup for my $300+ spotting scope. ... show more

I bought this for my 5 year old granddaughter and she was a bit young to be able to focus well. However, it worked well for me and the size and weight were great for portability and I really liked the looks of it. Unfortunately I had to return it as there was a crack or hair in the lens which created a line down the middle when you looked through it. I tried cleaning the glass, but the defect was on the inside. I will eventually get a new one for her, but will wait until she is a bit older. ... show more

I bought these on a whim for my brother and I as gag gifts. We just wanted to be silly and use them on boats that passed us on the river to draw a laugh. Well they did, and we were surprised by just how awesome these actually are. Certainly better than I imagined at the time of buying them. First off, these are not spotting scopes or high magnification. These were around 20 bucks each, so I was expecting toys. These could be great toys, but they are useful for adults they are so well built. The telescope has a great fit an finish to it, it is real metal with a nice brass finish, wrapped in what I suspect is faux leather. Very pleasing to hold and use, and share with others. Pulling it out to full length is a very satisfying experience, the telescoping pieces fit extremely well. The eye piece/end tip screws in and out slightly to offer legitimate focus control. The overall magnification is not much, but it is definitely magnifying. If you are having trouble- the hardest part is holding it steady at the right distance from your eye, everyone is different, some of my friends have it very close to their eye and others hold it a ways away. This is a perfect product. It does what it should do, it is well made, and is enjoyable to use for a great price. ... show more

I took this on an Alaskan Cruise and used it all the time to look at objectson the horizon, wildlife, etc! It was lightweight and the optics were surprisingly strong! I was disappointed that the belt strap broke immediately! The cheap rivets pulled easily out of the leater case. Good thing. I probably would have dropped it because I planned to keep it on my belt. I rigged a carabiner on the hand strap and was able to carry it that way. Still that was not enough to give it a bad rating. I would buy it again.     • Terrible quality.
The inside parts came lose almost immediately. Wish I could return but I waited to long. I can’t even put it back together myself. I just wanted something realistic for my child to play with that you could see something a little closer. It’s just junk.
