I bought these Philips Hue lights for my front yard since it’s very small (I only need 4 lights) and I wanted to do it myself (so it had to be easy). This product fit the bill perfectly! It was very easy to install - no need to add a transformer since it’s already included in the power supply. In addition to the power supply, I bought one Calla outdoor pathway light, three Lily XL outdoor spotlights, three cable extensions, and a Hue bridge. I am very pleased with the results. I was concerned that the light cast from the Lily XL spotlights would be too wide (I wanted to regular spotlights but they were sold out) but I find that these spotlights cast a lovely soft glow into a large tree and softly frame my front windows to accent the architecture of my home. I have an Echo Dot which can be used in lieu of the Hue bridge but opted to buy the bridge instead since I do not use my Echo Dot all the time. Set up was very simple. I downloaded the app and it’s easy to change light colors and routines. These lights are a little expensive compared to other landscape lighting options but Philips Hue landscape lighting was a better option for me since I didn’t need that many lights. If I had a large yard and needed more lights or knew I’d never want to change the light colors, it might make more sense for me to get other landscape lights. But this was a perfect option for me! I'm a big Philips Hue user and over years have watched the company put out some great products. I've wanted to try these for a while but was hoping to catch a reduced price as I needed a few. These are the top-notch LED lights right now and after installing nearly 20 around the exterior of our home, I can say we'll buy even more for our backyard. NOTE: Plan ahead!!! If you seriously think you'll have a Philips Hue ecosystem with over 50 Hue products one day (think about the indoor bulbs/switches/sensors and the outdoor lamps and spotlights), then immediately buy TWO Hue bridges. You can only put 50 products on one bridge and that's overloading a single bridge, in my opinion. We just installed a 2nd bridge and placed all interior products on the 1st bridge and all exterior Hue landscape products on the 2nd bridge. This frees up your Wi-Fi signal for normal use around your home and boosts the signals to all the Hue products. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Building an outdoor patio I wanted some cool ambient lighting for normal use and when entertaining... these lights are worth the money. I tried cheaper products and they were not as nice and didn’t work as effortless as these do. It also helps that I use the Hur system in the household already. I have no concerns with this product and have three of them in my backyard. I’m a devoted Hue user inside my home as well. But I’m also very disappointed that they don’t have any parts for this particular bollard outdoor light. The plastic spike is well, plastic, and not super durable. So when you break it in the hard ground or your kid kicks it over or a soccer ball hits it you’re out of luck and they want you to buy a whole new light. ... show more

    • Great, but shop with caution!
I purchased several of these units in June 22. They were installed by July, and I started to notice the issue in August. The app is seemingly intuitive at first until you try to move beyond basics. From there it goes downhill, and the more you dig, the less intuitive it gets. Somewhere early on I discovered a "dynamic" mode, and a firelight and candle feature. Upon enabling, I was greeted with an error that one of my units was not compatible. After looking into it further, it turns out that one of my units had a different hardware revision than the others. Now, there's no way to know that from the outside. Maybe from the serial number, but I don't know of anyone who shops by the serial number. I had a system with partial functionality, and the worst part was the customer service from Philips. I'm outside the return window for Amazon, and dealing with Philips has been just a miserable, abysmal experience. They keep telling me over and over to update the software, and I keep telling them I cannot, as the hardware, which the software resides upon, has the latest version it will support. I've sent screen shots, and nothing, and they would not escalate the issue. I had to resort to threatening with contacting my Attorney General and reaching out to the BBB (for reference, Philips USA does not show in the BBB). It was only after reaching that point did someone reach out to me to confirm that yes, there are two different hardware revisions. That was it. I then had to take that information and use it to push for a replacement. Once given, they promptly sent a full replacement unit and did not want the lone version back. So now I have this one odd man out I can't use for anything. That's okay, they eventually made it right. I knocked one star for the sluggish customer service, and one for the app. For as expensive as this system is, and as nice as it has the potential to be, buy with caution. Until they fix the app and get responsive tech support, don't chance it because you might wind up with a lemon, and few of you are only going to buy only just one of these. ... show more
