My cat is pretty big (looks like a racoon size-wise), and fits in this really well, can turn around fine and bag fits under an airplane seat with no problems. There are compartments that unzip so he can walk around with more room, but that is probably more pertinent to dogs or active cats because mine likes to cram himself into small spaces proving to everyone once again that cats are liquid. The straps are very sturdy to carry the bag and there is plenty of seeing room for him so he can look around or look up and creepily watch me from the under the airplane seat the whole plane ride. The carrier is super well made, sturdy and I can tell it'll hold up. It's the best looking carrier that I've found that fits ths 9" tall size requirement for the flight I'm taking. Unfortunately, my dog is a bit too snug for my liking. He's about 11#, but if he lays down he'll be touching all the sides. Great for travel - expanded out so they could chill and lots of different zipper doors for access. The one thing is that it’s not waterproof so one cat peed and it got all over the Uber seat lol whoops

This carrier says it's Airline Approved, but it seems too tall for Southwest Air's standards. Flying tomorrow, so we will see! Taking a backup, folded carrier that beat up and smaller, but we know it fits. I bought the Petsfit expandable carrier in M and L. Taking the L because our longer legged Bichon Frise (male, 12 lbs) fits better in the large. He fits in the Medium, but I prefer the extra height in the L. Hoping the back end will squish down enough to fit it under the seat. SWA says the space is only 8.25". I know that's shorter than Delta's. Might be time for me to fly another airline if my dog would be more comfortable. If he doesn't behave, (only his second flight, and this one is from the Midwest to California, nonstop), we may get kicked off before takeoff or in trouble during the flight and never need an air carrier again! Honestly we didn’t know how this was going to go Hawaiian airlines has some strict cage requirements. When we moved to Hawaii we had a different one and they wouldn’t allow it so we also had a hard side crate and put our 12 pound Shih Tzu under the plane. When we flew back we ordered the size the said that was this one. My Shih Tzu was very cramped up in there but as soon as we sat down or got in the plane I opened the sides to allow her space. It’s not super sturdy if anything falls on it or anything it’s going to collapse on the dog. However it made it from Hawaii to California and California to Iowa and it’s still here incase we ever need a crate! ... show more

I have a 15 lb terrier mix that we need to fly with. I ordered 3 different carriers to compare. 1 that did not expand, 1 that expanded on 4 sides, and this 1 that expands on 2 sides. This is for sure the winner! Has a little more space that makes it more comfortable inside for our dog and so far she is warming up to it nicely. So i have a 16 pound Shiba Inu and I really needed a decent carrier to get her to our new home 7,000+ miles across the ocean. We flew American airlines most the way there and I heard they had a super strict pet policy but we had no problem at all and they actually gave her a little pin after the second flight (her wings) it was very nice. you can see in the picture that the carrier stuck out from the seat a bit but it wasn't an issue and she wasn't squished at all. Our sweet dog was comfy and slept most of the way and the expansion parts were really nice during layovers so she could stretch out and eat her dinner. 10/10 would recommend. ... show more

It's big enough for our 22 lb Boston terrier to comfortably sleep in. It's not so sturdy; our dog goes everywhere with us in a smaller bag so I leave this on the bed. Do not wash the pad cover in the machine - I've been waiting now a month for a replacement. The only padded surface is the middle. It has exits on all sides, including the top, which is good.
