  • Not weather proof at all company lies
This is nice design but i have been weather proofing it as im putting it together lots of cracks i have been chalking and putting weather treatment on it. the wood is brittle and it doesn't line up very well either. I did read reviews but unfortunately not untill after purchasing it so i was prepared for what i was about to get but if your going to dump 500 bucks into something i wouldn't suggest this at all. You will be another 100 bucks into product to fix it. The company should be sending partial refunds to every customer that bought this OUTDOOR non weather proof item its sad that companies get away with this but just spend your money elsewhere. I haven't even got it outdoors yet so we will see how my updates hold up once i do.... thanks for reading best wishes for all. Pictures are taken straight form the box and as we were building it.... ... show more

  • Cute, but reinforcements needed to keep flock safe.
I bought this coop over summer in 2020, my girls moved in September 2020, and I wanted to wait to review until I gave it some use. This is my experience after 7 months of use. This is probably the cutest coop I could find and the right size for my space. It was easy to assemble and my girls love it. While the aesthetics are great, I have had to make several reinforcements to various areas for the safety of my flock. List of adjustments: -From reading reviews, I added a coat of boat varnish to help waterproof. -Added several additional hooks/closures to the two doors, hen house opening and nesting box lid. The provided locking mechanisms are not sufficient to prevent predators. -I made a cover from clear roofing panels that sits the length of the coop. Too much water was getting in when it rained and even though I added varnish, the hen house still leaked. -Given that my dog isn’t a huge fan of my chicken littles, she almost busted through the chicken wire, as it’s attached on the inside of the structure panels so the staples popped right off and left holes for entry. Now I have a double layer of wire attached on the exterior for better protection. I will eventually remove the inner chicken wire pieces that were originally attached. -I have had to fix the ladder leading to the hen house three times, as the hardware hooks are not sturdy and pulled out of the wood. -The handle to open and close the pop hole door has had to be repaired, as one of the screws attached to the door came loose and fell out. -the hardware on the nesting box door was complete trash. The latch to keep it closed completely pulled out of the wood, and the locking arm that keeps the nesting box door open also detached. I live in an area with a mild winter and a decent amount of rain throughout the year, so perhaps this coop is not suitable for wet climates?? For $400 I did expect better quality, but this was a situation where I feel like I paid for looks and have basically had to repair or replace everything else in order to keep my flock safe. I spent about $75-$100 extra to reinforce, so plan to spend a little more to keep your flock safe and cozy! ... show more

  • My first coop
I was initially very excited to get this coop. It arrived and I unboxed everything and started the process of assembling. At a couple of points the directions got kind of confusing, and another time there was a part that should have been in the pile that wasn’t. After getting it altogether, it’s really, really small! Yes I read the measurements but somehow thought that it would be a little more substantial once assembled. Skip three months to January, after requesting a return and figuring it would cost me the price of the coop to send it back, I gave up and kept it. It’s been in our backyard during the rainy season, and now the wood has actually warped and shifted so the locks don’t line up. So the big door on the side has to stay closed because once we open it, good luck getting it shut again. My husband had a go at it with a wrench to get it to latch. Our little boy went in to put their watering jug in, and when he touched the little ladder going to the hen house when he was on his way out, one of the rungs snapped off in his hand. So now it seems this thing is falling apart little by little. Frustrating as we could have purchased a nice large one built by someone local for just a couple hundred more. Not worth $500 in my opinion. Very disappointing. ... show more
