  • Must have
Size: Extra Large - Plus Traveler Color: Sage
This needs extra pad for the bottom for your pets comfort! I found a 3” memory foam piece that fit perfect! I would cut to fit it if I had to! This is my 2nd one to purchase after 8 years! I have a Jeep and my GuRLs love traveling💗💗

  • Excellent idea, imperfect execution
I bought this for my puppy and still occasionally use it now that he's at his adult size of 13 lbs. The description is kind of sparse, so here are some details: There are four ways to carry it - backpack, rolling, by the top handle, or over the shoulder with a strap attached to the top in two places like a purse. The backpack straps tuck away when not in use. The structure is pretty flexible vertically - it has thin plastic poles kind of like a tent. It has a rigid plastic bottom so does not compress horizontally. It has zippers similar to what you'd see on a suitcase for slightly increasing the size of the carrier, but if you do this the outside edges will not have a rigid bottom so the extra space is really only useful for stretching limbs. The bottom has a thin, removable faux lambswool cover over it. There are two small leash-like straps inside attached to the inside at the highest two corners. There is mesh on the front door and two strips on each side. The front oval-shaped mesh portion is where the carrier opens. There is a pocket on each side of the carrier. According to my measurements, it is slightly larger than what most airline would allow under your seat, even with the expanding zippers closed, but since it's flexible you could probably make it work - I haven't tried it myself. Now for the review/my experiences - I love that there are so many ways to use the carrier. It rolls smoothly and my dog did not object to being rolled around or carried on my back or over my shoulder. He seemed to like being on my back best. Unfortunately, the backpack straps are extremely uncomfortable for extended use... they really should have padded these. Likewise, the top handle and over-the-shoulder strap could use more padding. This seems like an easy change and would have made it much more usable. Although there are sufficient "windows," the mesh is quite tight and as a result does not provide a ton of ventilation - the carrier was noticeably warmer inside than out if it the dog stayed inside for a long time. As a result, I cut the four small side panels out of the carrier, which helped. The front panel rolls down and supposedly velcros in place, although I could not get the velcro to stay - wasn't a problem for me, just left it hanging down. The mesh is pretty tough plastic... my very determined dog eventually ripped through at the bottom of the front door (I patched it by gluing duct tape over the entire bottom seam and he hasn't gotten out again). I found the included faux lambswool pad to be insufficient to cover the plastic bottom (which has slightly raised rivets to attach the wheels and legs to the bottom) so I folded a blanket and put it on the bottom, which worked fine, but I wish the bottom pad had been thicker. The two leashes inside were a mystery to me... are they for two animals? Are you supposed to use both to keep the dog in the center of the carrier? I was unsure and using them made it harder for him to get comfortable. I was also worried he might strangle himself and when not in use they sometimes swung around and hit him in the head so I cut them out. The side pockets are good - I'm glad they included them. This is getting long so let me sum up - the idea is really good and if I were looking for a carrier right now, I would probably buy this one again. I did give it 4 stars so I'm obviously mostly happy with the product. I'm annoyed, however, by all the little things they could have done that would have gotten a 5 star rating from me. Crucial upgrades: pad the backpack straps and handle, include a thicker bottom pad, make the mesh a more breathable. Even more improvements: create sliding panels on the bottom to make the expanding zippers more useful, improve the velcro that lets you fold down the front flap, tell us how the heck to use the leashes inside and include a mechanism to secure them when not in use. I hope this company comes out with an upgrade to this product that implements some of these changes because then this carrier really will be top notch. ... show more

  • It’s very roomy and comfortable for your pet.
Size: Extra Large - Plus Traveler Color: NEW Sage
This carrier has wheels and a handle, so you can wheel it around like luggage instead of carrying it. But it also has backpack 🎒 straps so that you can carry it. It’s really roomy and comfortable for both dogs and cats. We bought 2, one for each one of our cats. We use these carriers for veterinary visits and trips. ... show more

  • VERY SMALL PET ROLLING BACKPACK CARRIER
Size: 14.0"L x 9.0"W x 19.0"H Color: Sage
[[ASIN:B0015MLH4K Pet Gear I-GO2 Escort Roller Backpack for cats and dogs up to 15-pounds, Sage Please see my pix at top of page for this product. The prospective dweller for this Escort carrier, Gabe, weighs approx. 10 pounds. He is 12 1/2 inches (top of head to ground) tall and 14 inches long (nose to end of rump). I thought this Escort would be perfect for my little "couch-potato." I thought he would be able to snuggle up inside this on our trips. Not so! He was very cramped inside of it. With the mesh "door" zipped closed, he could not turn around and had to lie down almost straight. He was clearly very uncomfortable. I have another, very active Chi for whom I purchased the PET GEAR I-GO2 PLUS TRAVELER ROLLING BACKPACK FOR CATS & DOGS UP TO 25 pounds. I absolutely love it and so does he! It is definitely over-sized for a 10 pound Chi but he has the freedom to move whenever he wants (and does!). I cannot praise the Traveler series enough. Of course, the Traveler is heavier than the Escort. My recommendation is to measure your pet carefully before deciding upon this carrier. I cannot imagine any 15 lb. pet fitting comfortably inside this carrier. The Escort series appears to be more geared for backpacking/airline travel but even so, only a very small pet could be comfortable for any length of time in this one. I have returned this Escort (no problems with the process and seller very helpful/cooperative). I am going to purchase another Traveler for my "couch-potato" Chi. I believe that these products are well made. Their longevity will depend more upon the zippers, I think, than the materials of construction. Nothing lasts forever. The side pockets do not hold much but I keep a pair of full-sized binoculars in one pouch for watching birds when I am out with the dogs. I keep treats, leashes, cell phone & mp3 player in other side (of the Traveler). I think the only thing I would change about any of these carriers is to make them more of a rectangular shape (which would provide more head room for pets)since they taper to a shorter width at the top. Then, I do think a larger dog might fit into the Escort (& other carriers). I guess the zippered mesh door is the reason for this shape. You cannot, necessarily, go by the outer dimensions of these carriers for determining what will work with your pet. The inner dimensions are always an inch or two shorter, plus you need to allow some room for movement. That is why I gave the dimensions of my dog. I hope this helps someone with their decision for their beloved companion. I gave this carrier 5 stars because I believe it qualifies as a 5 star item even though it did not work for me. UPDATE: I sent this back on a Friday. UPS tracking showed it as being delivered on the following Monday. That Tuesday, I received an email from Amazon notifying me of the upcoming refund. That Wednesday, the money was back in my bank account, minus the shipping and handling that they had paid for the delivery. I am very satisfied with the whole process! UPDATE: JUNE 7, 2012 One year later, I still love this carrier. Unfortunately, my 10 pound Chi, whom I call My Little Houdini (yup. escape artist) chewed at the zipper until he removed some of the zipper's teeth. Hence, that section of the zipper no longer works. This was not a fault of the zipper. I have placed a safety pin over this section. The rest of the opening still zips closed correctly so the carrier still works for us with no other problems. The carrier itself is still as good as the day I got it. It gets a lot of use on walks and auto trips. (No. He does not stay in the carrier for long periods of time. He is just excellent at escaping anything he is confined in -- quickly. And razor sharp teeth!) ... show more

This carrier had all the features I was looking for - except that my cat refused to accept it. I gave it to a friend.

  • small shoulder strap
Size: Large - Traveler Color: NEW Ocean Blue
I will admit I have not used it yet. While I was setting up for use, I spotted the shoulder strap was only 31". I don't care I brought it to use as a backpack, but my wife prefers over the shoulder. Right now it's July and she finds it difficult to get over her shoulder, come winter when she wears a winter coat, I believe it will be almost impossible. I'll probably buy a separate shoulder strap. ... show more
