Recommend...Really Good Size for small dog and dog necessities. Sturdy and well designed. Plenty of room... Sugar is Maltese 8 pounds. Did have a smell when first opened on arrival. Placed outside for about 2 hours...smell gone has not returned. I think it was from packing.

Beautiful quality carrier that is well made and breathable. The zippers are heavy duty and lock closed for added safety. The carrier itself is so nice to look at and looks high end. I used it for my cats recent surgery and he loved it.

I had to laugh at the product description for this carrier: "Pet Travel Carrier for Small Medium Ferocious Cats." I wouldn't describe either of my cats as ferocious, but this carrier fits both of them just fine. The carrier is well made, and I like it because it has good visibility. Most cats don't like being confined in a carrier for long, so it helps from the to be able to see out on all sides. This carrier does a great job of that. The included pad is somewhat comfortable, but could be better. For example, some carriers include a faux fleece pad that much more padded. There's a shoulder strap included if you want to use that instead of the handles sewn onto the carrier. There's a small clip-on bag you can use for carrying treats or other items, but I won't use it because the bag completely obscures that side of the carrier and I'd rather have it open for my cat to see out. The zipper "locking" feature seems silly to me, because all zippers are on the outside so it would be impossible for the cat to somehow access the zippers, let alone open them. But I guess it doesn't hurt anything to have zippers that connect to each other. One thing I noticed right away is that if you have both end flaps open at the same time, the carrier collapses because the structure isn't strong enough to support it if at least one flap is not closed. So when it's time to put your cat in or take him/her out, you'll have to choose one side or the other, or use the top flap. So this isn't a big deal, but something to be aware of. There are similar carriers that sell for less, but without doing a side-by-side comparison it's hard to say how this carrier and those compare. Based on the numerous favorable reviews and the fact that this is an Amazon's Choice item, I'd probably choose this carrier over another one. ... show more

    • Worked well for foster kitten
I exclusively use soft carriers for my cats so I have a decent amount of experience with this type of carrier. Pros: fabric is thick, there are snaps to help secure your pet especially during car rides, the bottom mat has velcro so it made it hard for my cat to scratch and burrow under it, and there is a smaller zipped area within the top mesh that can allow you to get your hand or something small into the carrier without having to open a larger compartment. Cons: The straps were kind of stiff where I had to use force to close the handle around the arm straps, the zippers were less than what I would call smooth so if you have a savvy pet they can usually get out of it before you can get the zipper around. I hope this gets better with time and use. Also the gold of the zippers and hardware is not to my personal taste but that is subjective so you may like it. I like things a bit more muted. There were some places where the mesh seemed like if you gave it a good push it might tear. I used this with a kitten who pressed all 2 of her pounds into the mesh in an attempt to escape to no avail but I would wonder about a larger animal being able to just bust through it. But I guess this would be the case for all soft carriers. Overall, it works as intended. I am able to transport my foster kitten(s) around without having any issues. ... show more

    • Perfect for a cat
We use pet carriers for our cats to go to the vet, mainly. I took our one cat in this and it fits him perfectly. I would not use this for a dog that is much larger than a cat, but small dogs and cats should fit well inside, with room to move around a little and get comfortable. We have another pet carrier that is hard plastic with the metal cage style door. The cats have way too much room in there, and when you walk with them, they are constantly shifting their weight and causing the carrier to feel awkward. This is small enough, and keeps the cat in one place better, so carrying the animal does not feel awkward. He stayed in place and I was able to carry the carrier with the cat in a balanced manner. Being smaller than the other carrier helps a lot too. Once we were in at the vet, I was able to open the door by completely unzippering it, and the cat was able to feel comfortable in his little shelter, and he stayed in it until the vet took him out. He did not try to escape, so I can't speak for durability when put up against claws and teeth. But the construction feels sturdy enough for a cat that is not dead set on getting out. The mesh feels as though it will hold for a while, but it is not a hard case, so if your pet is known for destroying carrying cases, I do think this one will eventually wear out on you. But it will certainly hold up against a pet that is testing its confines. And it certainly will not give way at the first sign of a claw. There is sturdiness to the materials and construction. So the animal would have to be essentially wild to get out on the first use. I would be more worried about continuous uses with abuse from the animal. This should last a long time with animals that settle down, even if at first they fight it. As a side note, I like the small size for getting into and out of the car. It fits right in a seat, and does not need to be put in the back, bench style seat. You can keep the animal closer to you in the car, just in case they really dislike car rides. This will now be my preferred carrier for the cats to go to the vet. ... show more
