So it's a bit hard to write a review for this carrier. The product page says it's good for 20 pound cats, that it's a 'large' carrier. It is NOT a large carrier. My 15 pound cat is nose and tail scrunched into the carrier when standing -- I would hate to try to contort a larger cat into it. (I don't know about dogs and their needs -- this review pertains to cats.) That all said... My cat grew sick and lost some weight and I was hauling her to the very in a huge old cat carrier. She fit, and she had room to turn around, but the carrier barely fit in the car and walking was a challenge as she could move back and forth in the carrier and send me off balance with ease. I decided to give this carrier a try. Lo and behold, she's still nose to tail, but she can curl up in the carrier and it's SO much easier to carry! Because her weight is concentrated and she can't move around so much, it feels so much steadier and stable when I'm carrying her around. The base has a removable (cleanable!) floor mat that has a soft covering to is, so I don't feel I have to stick an old towel in so she isn't sitting on bare plastic. There are a lot of mesh windows and there's still a top opening, which is the opening that I consider most important when you have vet visits. The carrier is smaller than my old plastic one and fits a lot more easily in my car, and carry handles are really nice to carry compared to the plastic grip of my old carrier. It might not be as easy to clean as that old carrier should we have a terrible experience that involves way too many bodily fluids, but the overall benefits definitely outweigh that loss. I'd easily give this carrier five stars, but I still have that niggling feeling that it just shouldn't be considered a LARGE cat (or dog!) carrier. Please check the measurements very carefully before purchasing. It's a great carrier, but the labeling is a bit deceptive in my mind. If your animal fits, I'd wholeheartedly recommend it! ... show more

I like this carrier a lot. So many soft-sided carriers feel flimsy. Not this one. The wire framing around it is solid and the material is thick and sturdy. However, I believe this carrier will be best used for trips to the vet or other short-duration vehicle trips. The stitching is well done. The zippers are large and sturdy although it is a bit difficult to zip them around the corners due to the hard construction around the top and sides of the carrier. The zipper buckles into the fabric a little in some areas and you have to straighten that out - tug it a bit - to zip it all the way around. The bottom pad is a heavy piece of cardboard inside a fluffy fleece cover with a zipper. I do not believe this will stand up to repeated use nor is it comfortable as a stand-alone padding although it provides the necessary firmness to the bottom of the carrier. You may want to use it as a base onto which you add a thin piece of memory foam or a small be to provide more padding for comfort and then of course top that with toweling that will absorb any 'accident' your pet may have. The mesh ventilation windows are more than adequate especially if you keep the flap on one side open. It is stated that it will hold a pet up to 25 pounds. I have a cat who is not only 25 or more pounds but is very large in size. I would not use this carrier for him. I would say that a pet no more than 12 to maybe 15 pounds would be fine for this carrier. The smaller the better. I have several cats that fit into that category. Securing your pet with the attached internal leash seems like a good idea however I have to wonder if it can't pose some strangulation problems. Not sure. I would avoid using it. I don't see why it would be necessary unless you are leaving your pet unattended somewhere (say, at an airport?) and fear that someone may open the carrier and allow your pet to escape. However, personally, I would never ship a pet in a soft carrier such as this. Shipping an animal through an airline is fraught with risks anyway, and you would never want to use anything other than a hard plastic carrier to do so. I do not believe this carrier can be taken onboard an airplane and placed underneath a seat. I think it is too large for that. Airline restrictions on carry-on size are quite strict these days. Overall, this appears to be a well-made carrier. I think this carrier is reasonably priced and I am confident it will last for many years with appropriate use. I like the color, too. I have 2 cats. If I put them in the carrier, they hate it. But if I leave the door open, they go to sleep in it. I like there is a few ways to put animals with the openings. It's comfortable to hold and gives plenty of to for the cats to lay down in. I guess it'll be great for their next car ride.

Great cat carrier. I wanted a roomier carrier for our big indoor cat and this one worked great for him. He is 14lbs and had plenty of room to turn around and find a comfortable position once inside. The fabric is very sturdy, and the carrier is well constructed. Variable length carrying straps let me loop it on my shoulder if I need both hands free, or I can carry it like a suitcase. I like that the big side mesh ‘window’ provides additional air flow for the cat but can be covered with a flap if there is something potentially disturbing on that side—like inquisitive dogs in the vet’s waiting room. The removable solid board that serves as flooring has a soft fuzzy cover that can be removed and washed. My cat gets car sick, so I just wrapped that board up with training pads. There is a pocket at the rear of the carrier that was ideal for storing more pads and can hold other small items a pet might need while being transported. The entire carrier is easily washed and settles back into shape once zipped. Multiple entry-exits are also nice. I typically load the cat from the top, then just open the end and let him exit on his own. I can leave the carrier with all doors unzipped and open and the cats will inspect it and sometimes nap in it. Of course, as soon as I approach for a picture, they bail. I can easily recommend this carrier to others. ... show more
