  • It worked
Style: Camshaft Bearing Tool (Univ)
Worked great for my LQ4 6.0 ls. My only complaint is there was no way to shorten it for the last couple cam bearings.

  • Positive initial impression
Style: Frost Plug Installer & Remover
My initial impression is good. Though I haven't used it yet, I can tell by looking at the kit that it will work well for the application I need it for. I'll be replacing core plugs for in a 4.2L on an F150, and the plugs are in a hard-to-access place. The kit is great quality, and the handle locks firmly on the dies. The dies are flanged so they press in the plugs at the right depth, unlike the socket and extension method that invokes utterances of obscenities. Though I'll probably (and hopefully) need to use this only once, it's a must for the tool collection. The blow-molded case's length doesn't allow it to fit in a 26" tool chest, maybe tightly on the top chest. ... show more

  • Long over due addition to my tool collection
Style: Flywheel Turner
I should have bought one of these a long time ago. I have a special socket that fits on the crank snout for small block Chevy's and one for big block Old's engines, but they only work if the balancer is not installed, like when it's on the stand and you're making your valve adjustments, or installing pistons during a rebuild. If the engine is in the car and you're, say, underneath it bolting up the torque converter, or bringing it around to dead TDC, or if you need to manually turn the engine over for any reason at all, this tool is the way to do it easily and with many fewer busted knuckles. You just have to make sure that you're holding it the right way and that you are pushing the tool in the right direction. There are two tabs that must fit in the gear teeth correctly in order for it to bite and turn the crank over. Other than that, it's very simple to use. I've found that his tool also works well on small engines like in riding mowers and such. ... show more

  • Tool is awesome! Used on 1991 Toyota 4R V6. SR5 3VZE 3.0 engine
Style: Cam Pulley Holder
This tool is awesome. I used it to hold each of the 2 camshaft sprockets in order to remove the 2 bolts on my 1991 4runner V6. If you are less than 6ft. tall & under 200lb., removing the bolts on the camshaft sprocket can be dangerous & scary. To remove the bolts, I inserted about 4 inches of the red handle of this tool to a 3 foot pipe ensuring that the pipe extends 1 foot past the fender where someone else can hold it safely and comfortably onto the camshaft sprocket while I cracked the camshaft sprocket bolt lose. Seriously you will hear the bolt crack lose & you will see the breaker bar bend so much that you will think it will brake...scary. I used a 1/2" drive breaker bar 18 or 25 inches in length with another 3 foot length pipe attached to the handel also ensuring that it went past the fender where I can safely stand behind while loosening the bolt. Warning: the bolts on 30 year old SUV's & trucks are super tight from the many years that it has been in the motor. In addition, it has been under intense heat for the same amount of years so the 2 bolts will be much harder to remove than to install & torque. It may be dangerous to remove the bolts so I advise to have 1 person hold the camshaft sprocket with this holding tool & a pipe extension while another person removes the bolt with a long breaker bar & a long pipe attached to it. The pipe extension length may varie depending on how tall you are and what weight you are. If you are 6 foot tall and 200 pounds, you will definitely not need to have the pipes in the same length. You may not need the pipe extensions at all. I have also used it to hold the camshaft sprockets to remove the bolts on a 1991 Miata. It wasn't necessary though since each camshaft has a special place to attach a crescent wrench to hold them for removing the bolts. ... show more

  • Must have tool
Style: Cam Pulley Holder
If you're in the automotive trade, you will have to do more and more work into tearing down engines or changing out seals etc. This is a must have if you do DOHC etc. This is an easy, no fuss tool that locks into place and you muscle off the cam bolts or simply keep them steady as you tighten them on. It's a must have tool for any professional auto tech. And lets face it, most shops won't supply you with these types of tools and the expectation is that you have it. Buy it! ... show more

  • Great way to waste $100 + $25 ***BUYER BEWARE***
Style: Camshaft Bearing Tool (Univ)
I will preface this by saying the tool worked fine when i used it to remove my bearings, as a bearing removal tool id give it 3 or so stars, subtracting two stars for the bad machining making it range from pita to almost impossible to remove when you tighten it enough to make a lip for the bearing. However there is no way i would rate this product anything higher than 1 star as a bearing installation tool. It is simply poorly designed and made with the lowest quality of chinesium. Both the inner expander (as most of the other reviews are saying) and the first bearing I attempted to install were completely destroyed. The expanders slipped inside the bearing during install and gutted the bearing, despite tightening the tool as much as possible. Before you consider saving 20-30 bucks with this dumpster fire, remember it will cost you another $25 minimum when you need to buy a second set of bearings, assuming the tool survives the first install attempt. ... show more
