I bought a top trim piece for the bumper of a 2000 Chevrolet. I’ve had experience with Chinese plastic aftermarket parts for my motorcycles and I see that some of the same issues carries over to car parts. Starting off, if you look at my pics, the tabs that fit into the holes of your bumper will not go in, well not all of them. There has to be a cut in them to allow them to squish together and then open back up after they’re pushed through (see pic #1 vs pic #2). Again, this sort of thing I’m used to, so I whipped out my pocket knife and cut some ‘V’s into them. Then since it’s Chinese or Taiwanese or whatever, they make a mold from the part since they don’t have the actual original tooling. This results in the new part not being quite the actual original size as the OEM. I had to use a plastic mallet with a folded up towel to drive in the tabs and then when all was said and done, this bumper cover was just a little too big. Now this was for my son’s first car that has its own collection of scratches and dings and you probably wouldn’t notice the trim not perfectly fitting unless I told you about it. If this was for a vehicle in really nice shape I’d be pissed because I doubt they’d take it back after I hand cut the tabs and then had to smack it in with a mallet. Like I said, I used a towel with the mallet so there are no visible scuffs, but if I had to yank this out to send back there’s be some “imperfections”.
