  • It's not as good as the Apple pencil, but for the price, it's great
When I bought my iPad Pro, I also purchased the $129. Apple pencil. I didn’t really need it, but I thought it was cool. I probably used it for a total of an hour before I lost it while on vacation. I had no intensions of spending another $129 replacing it, and I’ve getting along just fine without the ‘magic’ pencil. Then I saw this pencil, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that the Apple pencil has, but it’s a fraction of the price. It charges when magnetically attached to my iPad or it even has a USB-C port for that, if needed. It has always had power when I used it, so the charging works well. It doesn’t have some of the double tapping features of the original, but I don’t mind the few extra seconds it takes without that feature. Depending on what tool you use, you can vary the width of your stroke by slanting the pencil. It comes with a few extra tips but I’m sure, by the time I’ve worn out the first one, I will have lost the replacements. I don’t think you can go wrong with this ‘pencil’ at this price. ... show more

  • Great Digital Pencil
This is my first time using a pencil on my iPad--I have not purchased one up until now because I didn't think it would be worth the money and Apple's pencil is way overpriced (eighty bucks). By comparison, this item is just a little over twenty bucks and, as far as I know, it performs just as well as Apple's does. I have found that it is very handy to use the pencil and my iPad for taking notes during business conference calls and then being able to save them for future reference. I have also enjoyed doodling and drawing on my iPad but it is probably not something that I will do very much--I prefer doodling on paper better than on a screen. In summary, if you are looking for a pencil to use on your iPad then I definitely recommend this one because it is very functional and much less expensive than others out in the market. ... show more

  • Works well
Note: I have not actually used an Apple pencil - I am looking at the feature set Apple advertises for comparisons. This pencil pairs up easily with my iPad (11", 4th gen). I have easily been able to repair it several times as I've done a few resets to the iPad for other reasons. There's no complicated sequence to repair either - it detects it isn't paired and goes into pairing mode. Pen writes smoothly. If the app supports it (or the brush supports it) it has tilt sensitivity and will vary the line weight based on tilt. I can write like I am writing with a pencil or tilt and shade like I would with a pencil. It came fully charged. And the charge last awhile. One downside is there is no external indicator showing how much batter you have left. You have to pull up the battery information via the iPad. The pencil is magnetic and will hold against the side of your iPad. Because I have a case on my iPad it will still stick to the iPad magnetically - but it won't charge. The charge functionality does work - but I've got to remove the iPad from the case. If you don't (or can't charge) wirelessly you can charge via a traditional usb-c. I have concerns about how long before the little usb-c port cover disappears though. It is a tiny piece of rubber that isn't easy to replace because of its size. The pencil is a comfortable size as well. It is the same thickness as a traditional wooden pencil. The one feature this pencil does lack is pressure sensitivity. If you press harder - it does not change the line weight unlike the "real" one. I will likely pick up the real thing at some point - but this pencil makes a good choice if you are trying to save money, wanting to see how much you'd use the pencil before dropping the big bucks (this is the camp I am in), or as a backup pencil to have on hand. ... show more

  • Great low cost alternative to the real thing
I’ve never used an authentic Apple Pencil. This Pencil 2nd Generation for iPad does a nice job. It has a good feel in the hand. It fits perfectly in the charging slot of my iPad case. I like that I do not have to plug it in charge it. I also like that it is black. It blends right into the black charging slot on the case. No big glaring white pencil against a black background. I had another brand of iPad stylus and every time I wanted to use it it was dead. The Pencil 2nd Generation for iPad also comes with extra tips. I do not think I will ever wear a tip out but the extra tops are a good I have had no issues with lag or skipping. It works flawlessly. A quick click of the top of the pencil and the green light shows it is turned on. My wife has one that is a pain to turn on. I am going to take a few online courses for drawing with the Pencil 2nd Generation for iPad. I have used it so far for editing and as a stylus instead of my finger. I have not found any negatives to report. I don’t think it’s worth paying the price for the authentic Apple Pencil 2. The Pencil 2nd Generation for iPad is impressive and I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Great Pencil!
I am so impressed with this 2nd generation pencil! It was so easy to pair to my 4th generation IPad and it worked immediately. You do have to turn it on at the top (there is a button to push). If you leave it for a long time you may have to turn it back on, but for me that is fine. It writes almost exactly like the brand name pencil. So far works like the pencil except it doesn't have the tap function (or I have not figured it out). I can do without the tap function to switch between the eraser and tip of my choice. I have not figured out the tilt function either but again, I may be using the wrong setting. Otherwise it writes great, it magnetically charges and it works with other tips (I tried another brand of tip and that also worked with the pencil). It is very very well priced and for me it does exactly what I need it to do. it is a little on the lighter side when it comes to the weight and feel of this one but I like it and it works for me. I love this Pencil and will definitely recommend it to others. It is exactly what I was looking for to replace the Pencil I lost ... show more
