Purchased two of the Pelikan Twists for my kids as back to school present. One silver and one purple. This purple color was not purple, more deep blue. The cap insert on it also was cracked and would stay on the pen when you try to remove the cap. Ultimately, returned it as defective due to the cap and cap insert separating, but was nonetheless disappointed that the color did not match the product image. We went with different color when ordering another. It writes easily and has unique styling. Plastic construction, but solid in hand. This was a disappointment because I like the pen, but I just can't write with it comfortably. It looks cool, the nib is smooth and flows well, and it's great value for the money. But my grip angle just doesn't work for me. The triangular shape means when I hold it the nib is twisted to the point that it doesn't write well. The only way I can use it is by holding it on the tips of the triangle, which works but is not feasible for any length of time. ... show more

If you struggle with holding a pen properly when writing, this could be the solution. It is comfortable to hold and the triangular design makes it easy to use the correct grip. If you just want to try using a fountain pen, this is also a great one to try. Make sure to get some extra ink cartridges.

This pen has very smooth nib and came with nice dark blue ink. Unfortunately holding it in a way so that it will write is very uncomfortable. I tried different grips without success. I even gave it to one of my daughters who is left handed to try. ( The pen is advertised as good for both right and left handed people. ) She didn't like it either. I think the problem is caused primarily by bad design. Pen that have similar thick triangular grip that have solved the adjustment issue is the Sailor Tuzu Adjust that allows the nib to be rotated in 10 degree steps. That pen is however 2.5 times more expensive ... If you are looking for entry level pen and want to avoid bad surprises get Pilot Kakuno or Platinum Preppy. ... show more
