  • Great quality (but check your strap width!)
Lens Color: Silver
It feels really sturdy and seems very well made. One thing I didn't do is check my strap width, I just assumed that it will work on any backpack. Apparently it can only be installed to up to 2.5'' width straps (and NOT 3'', like it says on the box - see image), and none of my backpacks are that narrow. ... show more

  • Good yet problematic
Lens Color: Silver
This piece of equipment is extremely well implemented, designed, machined, presented and packaged. It actually is a beautiful item when you hold and look at it. All this gives it an aura of excellence that makes it a bit difficult, after several days of use, to face the fact that, among the uses it's designed for, it is rather limited (and sometimes even fairly poor) at accomplishing those. 1. Strap mount – backpacks, camera straps, etc. This is the mount that looks "coolest" in photographs: chest height on a shoulder strap. But there are some serious drawbacks that greatly limit actual use. Number one is WEIGHT: Your backpack needs to be heavier than your camera at all times. Otherwise, the camera weight will pull the backpack up your back while the camera slides down your stomach. (Note: This only happens with some designs, or with a sling, where the pack can slide up your back. Some packs have webbing that contacts your neck and partially prevent this. My Osprey Daypack has this, but it still gets pulled up onto my neck and definitely doesn't look "cool.") A backpack with a hip belt holding it in place probably stops this to some extent. But anyone with a lightweight camera pack, like me, won't be able to use the mount happily once they start walking. Likewise, I tried to use the clip on the chest area of my BlackRapid strap, so I could mount a landscape crop sensor camera while the strap suspended my telephoto full frame. However, any time the suspended camera is raised to shoot, the counterweight is removed, making the clip mounted camera pull the whole strap down onto the stomach again. 2. Belt mount. This is probably the device's best area of performance. Yet, you end up needing a belt specifically for the device, even if your pants have a built in internal belt, like many outdoor sports pants do today. This can be surprisingly annoying to have to buy, or remember to bring, a belt, as well as screw on and unscrew the device every time you take the belt off. Still, this is as close as the clip gets to be completely satisfying. Sadly I bought it mainly for shoulder strap use. General observations: There's quite a bit of rattling movement even with the camera and plate snugly mounted in the clip. I would estimate a 10th to 8th of an inch in various directions, giving a generally "loose" feeling unlike some of my tripod mounts. Is it a case of "looks better than it works?" Not quite. But it doesn't work entirely as well as it looks, at least in the current iteration. ** UPDATE ** I've found a main use for this, and it's to hang my 100-400GM / a6300 combo on the passenger seat while driving. That way I can pull over and instantly unclip it if I happen on wildlife visible from the road, or an interesting traffic incident. ... show more

  • Fantastic accessory for on-the-go photography. The quality is worth the money.
Lens Color: Silver
Absolutely amazing product. I used this to holster my Olympus EM5 Mark II for the entirety of St Patrick's day, 7am to 11pm. It was terrific in allowing me to keep my camera with me without the bulk of a bag. I could lock it in when walking on the streets, getting up and down from my barstool, always quick to unclip if I wanted to capture a moment. I used it without the propad and just on my belt. I initially had problems with the clearance(few mm) of the thumb screws not allowing me to holster my EM5 with my Olympus 12-40mm PRO lens, but I just removed the thumb screws and used the included hex key screws to get a bit more clearance, definitely something to check before taking it out in the field. I was able to run and jump with the camera holstered as well, no problem for the smaller M43 system camera/lens. ... show more

  • I didn't know I needed this, until I gave it a try. Now, I can't live without it.
Lens Color: Silver
Fanf*#@ingtastic. I love this thing. To be honest, I stumbled on a review of this thing during my youtube binge, which, I admit happens a lot, and ends up costing me more money. Buuuuut I digress. This time, it was all well worth it. This plate is so incredibly thin. It matches my camera (Olympus omd-em1) perfectly. The latch itself? Top notch. Its as secure as secure can be and Im comfortable hanging my camera and a larger lens from it. Build materials, top notch. Machining, top notch. Functionality, top notch. This plate is an arca Swiss compatible plate, so it works on all of my tripods. I plop this on and it stays. One thing noted from other reviews, on a larger strap, you may have to bunch it over. Will it do it? sure. Is it pretty? Depends on who's asking. Other than that, the only gripe I have, and its a mixed bag, is the plate has no security tab, or option for a screw for a security tab, for arca Swiss heads. I have to be dually careful to make sure I don't have my tripod oriented in a way that it can accidentally slide out, and make sure the clam is on tight. But, if it had this tab, it wouldn't sit so pretty on my desk. Honestly, I love it and it gets used all the time. ... show more

  • Rarely Miss a Shot
Lens Color: Silver
Finally, a way to hold my camera in a readily available way! Living and working at the Grand Canyon I frequently go on hikes of 10-20+ miles and want to be able to take pictures when the opportunity arises. I gave up on having my camera around my neck, the weight of a full-frame just became too much to stand with the strap abrading against my sweaty neck. Now I clip my camera to my pack strap and the neck strap isn't even noticeable. I had started just keeping the camera inside my pack which made me miss quite a few shots, particularly of wildlife that won't wait for me to take off my pack and pull my camera out. Had it not been for this product I would have missed the pictures of the baby rattlesnake warming in the sun on the trail, not to mention the spontaneous shots that present themselves. No serious CONS to mention, just the minor getting used to unlocking the release. With larger fingers it's a tight fit to get in behind the camera to turn the button - but not a deal breaker by any means. ... show more
