Style: Anafi Base
After several flight sessions, I can now post my own review. Some friends of mine have DJI products, I tested both Spark and Mavic Air, and I can confirm that Anafi is a choice I'm really happy with. As a first try, on each very first flight, I even felt more secure with Anafi as take off and landing seemed to operate quite autonomously. And the release of Mavic Pro 2 and Mavic Zoom does not change my opinion: for sure, they must be good drones but much heavier (2 to 3 times) and twice the price... You cannot really compare those products. Although I got many drones (Auto Evo), I am still not an expert. Anafi is perfect for beginners (Also for the most confirmed) with a quick installation that takes only a few minutes. The Freeflight6 app is designed with the same principle and provides a user-friendly interface (Not overloaded with options and unnecessary information). I did not have any compatibility problem with my phone and the last upgrade brings many improvements. I can now define the minimum flight altitude during a RTH. On the drone characteristics, I was not disapointed and it corresponds to the different reviews I saw before buying it: it's compact, light and very quiet compared to other drones I tested. At sea, I flew from the shore over my son who was sailing a small boat quite far, and he didn't notice I was filming because he couldn't hear my Anafi flying over his head. I was flying about a 100 feet high from what I can remember. Amazing images. Another strength: flight autonomy, around 25 minutes ! I can record a great video without having 3 extra batteries in my pocket. The extra batteries are a bit expensive, but I only bought one as you can charge everywhere and easily with USB-c charging. To reduce charging time, it is necessary to use a USB Power Delivery charger (9V or 12V). It charges the battery in 1h30. I didn't take many photos, because I use the Anafi mainly to record videos. The video quality is awesome with good contrast. I will test very soon the different lenses I’ve seen on Amazon. The HDR can bring an artisitc touch to shots with its saturated colors. The drone is extremly stable and the camera movements are fluid. At this price, this is the only drone with lossless zoom and a 180 camera : 2 features that will please people who look to make sophisticated shots. Cine shots features are great, specially the reveal mode. Parrot hit big with Anafi and I can see that software update keep making it a much better product.     • No Warranty claim possible if you buy from Amazon
I purchased the Parrot Anafi Work sUAS from Amazon in March 2021. It has been great. Video is fantastic. I have an FAA certificate to fly sUAS commercially as well as a Commercial Pilot License for Rotorcraft-Helicopter: Instrument with over 1000 hours of military flight time in rotorcraft. I have found the Anafi to be convenient for getting aerial video and images in a manner that is cheaper and easier than getting equivalent footage from manned aircraft. I noticed that there was a firmware update applied over the July 4th weekend. To test out the reliability of the Flight Plan flight mode and to gain confidence, I created a very short flight plan. The flight plan called for a series of waypoints at 400' AGL with the plan terminating at the last waypoint at a 10' hover. I do not know if it is related to the firmware update, but on approach to the last waypoint the aircraft inexplicably shut off and plummeted from the sky. It had over 90% battery and the flight had lasted less than 2 minutes. Flight data that was recorded by the aircraft indicates that this occurred at 132' AGL. I contacted Parrot, and to their credit they reviewed all of my data and made a determination that the incident should be covered under warranty. This process was quick and within 4 business days. They provided an email with a reference number and the following instructions: "This's an official confirmation from Parrot SA that you do approve for a warranty claim. Kindly show this e-mail to the point of sale to claim your warranty through the shop not through Parrot." The warranty provides a total replacement. I contacted Amazon. Amazon told me that since it is outside of the 30 day window for returns they would need to charge a 20% restock fee. This is unacceptable. A 20% restock fee on an item that was over $1000. That is $200+ for a defect that the manufacturer states that they will cover. If this aircraft were out of warranty I would purchase a new hull and motors to attempt to rebuild this myself. The $200 restock fee might not seem so bad, except when one has to wonder how many times this fee would have to be paid if the next sUAS proved to be defective as well. Why would there be a restock fee? Is this going to be put back into stock and resold? Warranty is effectively void if you purchase from Amazon. The manufacturer accepts a warranty claim but says to contact the point of sale (Amazon). Amazon says to contact the manufacturer. All the parties are pointing their fingers at each other. This is an excerpt of Parrot's response: Whether the point of sale assigns a restock fee or not depends on the seller's policy. But, yes some sellers do that. Parrot cannot control or cancel a policy of another company's. We, at Parrot, always welcome the the opportunity to continue assisting you in your business and look forward to continuing our business with you, which we are certain will be profitable to all those concerned. ... show more
