Description

For almost 20 years now, Papo has been helping younger and older children to develop and to discover the world around them. Childhood is a time of dreams and adventures, and this was what we had in mind when we decided to create the first princesses, princes, dragons and Knights. Thanks to the originality of its products and the extreme care taken with product quality and safety, over the years Papo has proved popular with children and their parents. Today a reference in the world of 60006 figures, Papo continues to develop new ranges to inspire the imaginations of children the world over. In an age of mass consumption and throwaway goods, Papo remains true to its wish to produce fine toys which last over time and which can be passed on from generation to generation.

  • She's certainly one durable queen
Style: Medieval Queen
I actually bought this figurine about three years ago, and she is still played with on a regular basis. At the time of purchase, I bought the queen to "authenticate" a wooden castle I had purchased for my toddler. The combination (along with a king, etc.,) deeply impressed my older daughter--then about eight years old and generally disdaining of anything that suggested "toddlerhood", but who nevertheless played with the queen on the sly-- and delighted my little one (then almost three). So the queen survived the toddler years... Suffice it to say, this queen has frequented castles, doll houses, and has been the doom of lego villages. She is extraordinarily well made: the figurine has been bathed almost daily in bubble bath for over two years now (yes, she has now been regulated to the status of bath toy); despite this, she has not lost a single detail to the overall furnishings and original colors of her garment. And the details, for a figurine, and especially one of this price, are exquisite: she seems to be wearing layers of clothing, and one sees the ridges/crinkles in the dress; her hands are delicate and she possesses an expression of serenity (not that my children noticed these things). At present, my (now) near 12-year-old wouldn't mind using her as a decor element in her room (albeit towards the back of a bookshelf!), but her (almost) six-year-old sister still insists on playing with the queen in the bath, and my 18-month daughter is starting to show an interest in the figurine. The queen has faired better than most barbie dolls, and has received more attention than any of the American Girl dolls owned by my daughters. I believe she'll survive at the hands of my third daughter, and I think this says quite a bit about the quality of the figurine as well as the many different ways in which the figurine may be used: imaginative play inside (from castle to bathtub) and outside the house--she has been buried in sand and in dirt-- and she's so easy to pack (along with a handful of other figurines) for weekend trips to Grandma's and since she and the other figurines don't come with loads of accessories, we don't forget anything as we pack to come home. Would I buy her again? Yes, but I don't need to, for this queen has been built/modeled as a survivor, assuming nobody gets the "brilliant" idea to see how she fares in the fire, gets picked on as a "chew toy" by the dog, or becomes a "science" experiment--I have seen other figurines (by Schleich and Papo) go down in this manner by children who are keen to test the limits of things, but I digress. Apart from that, the thing seems to be indestructible. ... show more

  • Beautifully detailed figurine
Style: Medieval Queen
This is a high quality, nicely painted figurine. There are lots of tiny details -- the dots on the crown, golden collar and belt; the gold outline on the purse; the details on the underskirt; the features of the face. For the most part it is VERY well-painted. The black detail running up the center of the bodice was the only place where the painter messed up, and, considering the high quality of the rest of the figure, I'm surprised (it's pretty noticeable.) Considering that lower quality figures miss the face (eyes and mouth paint not actually on the mouth and paint), and this is for my 8 year old daughter, not a Collector, I'm delighted with it overall. ... show more

  • Not as good as Schleich...
Style: Medieval Queen
So this queen is very pretty and very detailed. The problem is that my kids are VERY rough on toys. I got this doll because my son got a bunch of Schleich knights, and my youngest daughter wanted something to play with as well. Whereas Schleich knights are all a single cast of plastic, the Papo figurines are a couple different casts, held together with glue or whatever. Regardless, my kids managed to "decapitate" the queen within a couple days. The detail is great, and my kids love to play with them. But without a head... ... show more

  • Built to last
Style: King Arthur's horse
My six year old loved it. We had to find the knight separately. Very well made and sturdy. His kids will be playing with it someday!

  • Checkmate!
Style: Medieval Queen
Papo makes some great figures and our kids love them. They've been collecting them for a few years, only gathering about a dozen, due to the cost of these retail, even with sales. However, here on Amazon, we've managed to get them for half (or less) of the retail costs, and bought a bunch of these for the kids' birthdays. Each figure is amazingly detailed and well made. They pose them in massive battles or just arrange them on their furniture for display. Either way, the figures are fantastic. I've written this same review for each of the figures that we've purchased. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. These will last for years to come. ... show more

  • Assembling a Royal Court...to learn with and have fun with
Style: Medieval Queen
While assembling a Royal Court to rule over a new (Melissa and Doug) Castle I've been so very impressed by three toy collections.. Papo, Schleich and Safari ( you can find them all here on Amazon ). The collections are exqisitely detailed ,beautifully painted by hand AND historically accurate as far as costumes and armaments.Happily they all work perfectly together...the knights from one group can fit just as well on the noble steeds of the other groups. This particular' Medieval Queen' from Papo will rule with 'King Alfred' from Safari...they work well together both represent the late 11th century..around the time of the First Crusade...amazing toys really.. my nephew will appreciate this (I hope). ... show more

  • Wow on the bigger side
Style: Medieval Queen
My daughter needed for a history project. Figurine is pretty big I thought it was going to be on small side but other than that excellent.
