I got this Optimus Prime/Megatron set for my son's 6th birthday and he absolutely loves them! He had a little trouble transforming them at first, but they're not super difficult for younger kids, as there are only five or six steps. They're all plastic, so durability is a concern. These look awesome as robots, so-so as vehicles. That's opposite of the original toys I grew up with, where the vehicles were cool, but sometimes the robots sucked. I had Megatron as a kid, which transformed into a handgun, but the robot was awful and looked nothing like the cartoon. In this set, Megatron turns into a kind of weird looking tank, and Optimus Prime's tummy drags and prevents his front wheels from rolling. Megatron has his cannon, but Optimus has no weapons. So they're not perfect, but my review is based on how much my kid likes them, which is a lot. ... show more

Great value when on sale for $18.99. Wished the legs could bend at the knee or that Optimus came with a pew pew. Instructions are adequate and vehicle form is awesome. It is slightly odd that Bumblebee Camaro is larger than semi truck Optimus but then again tank Megatron and Fighter jet starscream should be much large in scale. I'm not sure how long these would survive in the hands of children but the adult child in me treats them nicely. ... show more

    • Cheap replica of the 80s toy
I really loved this until it broke on my son. When these were made of metal, the parts would have stayed together. If was fun to relive my childhood with him for the week we played with them. It is too bad that Hasboro shifted to plastic instead of the long lasting metal counterparts. If you are giving this to a teenager that doesn't play war with Autobot VS Decpticon, and just transforms the models for fun & put them up for show pieces then this is a great buy. ... show more

I gave this to my grandson for his 7th birthday. He loved it. He needed some help from his dad to figure out how to 'transform' one of them but can now do it easily by himself.

My 4yo came home from school one day obsessed with transformers and that is all he wanted for Christmas. We initially bought one from target and it was so complicated even I couldn’t figure it out. So I got these ones instead… they are much easier but still requires a little help at first. They are the same cheap plastic of all Amazon kid toys but overall I think they will hold up pretty well. ... show more

    • A little janky with loose joints
I loved Transformers when I was a kid. My kid has an interest in toys that transform, so I thought to see if I could find some of the classic toys that I remember. Well, these popped up. They looked okay. He was super-excited when they arrived. Unfortunately, transforming them can be challenging due to the janky plastic joints. If you're not careful, you will end up losing pieces (like an arm.) Once that happens, the toy is never really as good as new. ... show more
