  • The missing piece to my organizational puzzle
Color: Black
To preface this review, I've been on an intense self-discovery journey over the last 5 years of my life; trying to understand what it takes to be truly happy and to have that happiness stem from the deepest workings of my being. As someone who is frequently overwhelmed, suffers from anxiety, bouts of depression and mania, this book has provided me with one of the key tools I needed for my set; a simple intuitive organizer where I can keep my personal and professional life in sync while not overwhelming myself with planning (crazy right?). I've tried multiple planners in the past, in digital and analog format. I'm a systems/network engineer who lives and breathes on a computer and the internet in general, and for me, this PAA(personal analog assistant) is second to none. This said, this planner has been integral to my most recent round of growth and success over my mind and self. I opted for the full-size planner and also opted to use one planner to encompass work, social, family and personal responsibilities. Since this planner has come into my life on 10/13/18, it's had 8 solid weeks of engagement from me. Truth be told I haven't watched the video from mypandaplanner.com, I dove right in based on the quick intro page, but regardless, this book has helped to reinforce a solid work-flow for organizing the constant clutter that is my brain and helps to ensure all aspects of my life are nourished. That, in turn, helps lead to self-growth in one aspect by being able to set yourself up for successful mindful habits. I'm fully aware this book is not a miracle cure, but when used as part of a balanced suite of tools to help set you up for successful endeavors - no matter how big or small - it's probably one of the most profound tools for your set, right alongside meditation and physical activity. Top-to-bottom and back up approach - The planner is broken down into Monthly Weekly & Daily sections. At the start of a month. I begin at a high level with a monthly layout, This helps me put a visual together of what my month is shaping up to be. From there and at the start of every week I move to the weekly section where I put a mid-level weekly plan of intentions together, but not before reflecting and reviewing on the previous week a being sure to re-assess where last weeks unaccomplished goals, tasks or projects fit in this week in conjunction with scheduled events for the current week. Once that's laid out & at the start of every day (or sometimes a jump start the night before) I move into the daily section and begin to pull items from my monthly & weekly layouts into my daily priority list, which granular tasks are then generated from. At the end of the day, I spend about 15-20 minutes reviewing my day, what I've accomplished, what still needs to be addressed & where/when/how to keep those unfinished tasks on the docket in some way. That usually leads to working my way back up into my weekly and sometimes monthly sections to ensure where I can fit these items in to be re-addressed if neded. Don't overwhelm yourself with tasks! Another key to success when it comes to planning & using this book - be sure to plan time for yourself. You're a priority. Make sure 1 of the 5 daily priorities you list in your Daily section is something to help build you up on a personal level. If you're like me sometimes you get so caught up in the feeling of accomplishment and completing tasks, you forget to take time to rest. Being overworked and exhausted will get you no-where fast. Unless you're Elon Musk, we're all human and need rest & recharge. Be sure to limit your daily tasks and priorities as to not inundate yourself & be sure to deliberately schedule a time to rest, meditate, participate in physical activity, cook a healthy meal, or even get lost in a good book - whatever helps to make you, you. Lastly - good luck! The journey to success is not linear! Remember that! Hill and valleys, peaks and cliffs. That said, it's OK to screw up, forget something, or even fail at a task. It's all about how you compose yourself during those times of screwing up, and how you rebound from those shortcomings. Practice your recoveries. The nature of applying organization methods using this book has helped me to be more OK with my shortcomings than ever before, because now I have (what's proven over the last 8 weeks to be) a very effective way of keeping tabs on those mistakes and finding ways to address them effectively enough to learn from and grow positively out of them. Be well, Carl ... show more

  • Great planner for non-planner types
Color: Black
Short version: This is definitely heavy if all you need is a calendar and to-do list. BUT for those of us who desperately need the organization of a planner, but have never been able to consistently use one, the weight is 100% worth it. I've owned this for two weeks and will update as I've had it for longer. Long version: I was diagnosed with ADD as a kid, and I have *never* been able to stick to a planner or list system. You name it, I've probably tried it. I muddled through college and a few years of work on a weird combination of lists and my memory that left me stressed and continually letting things fall through the cracks. I've tried many many different written planners, and all kinds of organizational apps (including: Asana and gamified ones like life bloom and habitica). But the issue was always that I could never stick to them. I'm now getting my Ph.D, and knew that I needed a better system that I could actually stick to. This is the first planner I've used where I 1) actually remember to look at it each morning and 2) honestly look forward to using it. Getting started on each day feels more like a morning mindfulness practice than starting work, and by the time I'm done filling out the 'Daily' Page I feel excited to get started. I think that for me, a reason previous planners failed is because they were full of things I had to do (and tasks I had failed to do), I never wanted to open them. This planner helps reduce the avoidance due to work stress, which for me makes it worth its weight in gold. If you're debating between the pro and the smaller version; a friend of mine has the smaller version, and so we compared side by side. I prefer the larger version because I have really big handwriting, so I like having more space. But the smaller version really isn't missing any of the parts from the daily, weekly, or monthly pages. So if you concerned about size and weight that may be a better option. My favorite things about the planner: - I actually look forward to using it (which for me is a first in... ever). I'll update this review with whether or not I stick to it, but the two weeks so far have been great - It makes me think of a daily habit to work on each day. I have great intentions about practicing better habits, but I'm seeing so much more progress when I'm forced to write down a habit to work on every day - gratitude focused. I know this seems silly, but starting my work session off with things I'm grateful for really has made a difference for me in my mood throughout the day. - the end of day review. I actually do this the next morning, before filling out my new daily. But being forced to really evaluate what the wins and losses from the previous day were has helped me be honest with myself about what I need to work on (and also focus on what I'm doing well, which is something I don't do enough) -its not dated. I love the fact that the pages aren't dated. It means that if I miss a few days I don't have all of these unusable pages. - Didn't skimp on construction. Three ribbons help you flip between your current daily, weekly, and monthly page. The thick cover looks and feels great. Each page is the thickness of regular printer paper- not some of the ultra thin paper I'm finding in a lot of planners. There's a pocket in the back for stray pieces of paper or sticky notes. All of these help the planner feel well made. Some cons/things to consider about the planner - it is both big and heavy. I just carry my bag a few places, but in the years when I was constantly carrying by bag to classes this would have been cumbersome - the 'tasks' space has space for 8 tasks. I haven't used that up yet, but I could see needing more room in the future. - Not all of the space descriptions are perfectly clear. But their website had helpful suggestions on how to fill them out. ... show more

  • Good size and quality material
Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. I've used Panda planners for over 2 years now but this a different version of the one I normally buy. This one has a daily page which is fine but in order to look at past days or notes from that week you need to find that page, so I prefer the one that has weekly pages instead of daily but it's just my preference. It's still a good planner and will keep on using it for now. ... show more
