This painting kit is really fun for adults and older kids. I wouldn’t recommend it for young kids because there’s quiet a lot of detail work that requires super careful strokes. The supplies are great for paint and sip nights or just days when you feel like playing with paint. The lines and details are very clear and easy to read other than the super small bits, which you can read with some effort. One thing I really like about these paintings is that they have a color blending/gradient element, where some parts require you to start with one color and then carefully transition to the next within the same space. That’s a unique quality for paint by number canvases, in my experience, and it’s a cool skill to work on. My only complaint with this kit is that the paints are shared among all three paintings. The paintings don’t all necessarily use every color, but some definitely do overlap, and that can be annoying if you’re sharing the kit with a friend. I have two girls 8 and 6 and they enjoyed painting these canvases. It comes with 3 different choices along with a colored printed paper to use as a guide. That helped my 6yr old out when she wasn't quite sure if she was using the right colors. There are some areas that have for example: 8+3 on the area to be painted, so when we looked at the guide it had one color only on the outer edges and the other filling in the middle. It was a bit tedious more so for my 6yr old because some areas are very small and she wanted to use one paintbrush for the whole thing, but my 8yr old had an easier time with it. ... show more

While the complete product is good, meaning I like that the painting lines are on a piece of canvas that is already framable or to hang framless, I think the term Acrylic Oil is a misnomer. You can't mix acrylic and oil paint together. It is either Acrylic or Oil. This product uses Acrylic paints not oil. I would give this to a child that has already shown a sign of liking to paint or draw. It takes patience to paint and most children under 10 or 11 do not have the patience for it. The acrylic paint drys in 5 to 10 minutes depending on how thick the paint is put on the canvas, however, due to the fact that the painting pots are so tiny, it would have to be painted on thinly thereby drying in about 5 minutes or less. The three canvases are different sizes as stated in the description. There is a color photo of each canvas so a person knows what color to use where. The quantity of paint given does not leave room for imagination or creativity. I still think this is a good painting kit for a beginner. If this company has other painting kits with different subject matter I would get more than one if the price was not more than $20. Made in China ... show more

Full name of product: Paint by Numbers Framed, 3 Pack Painting Kit for Kids DIY Printed Canvas, Paint by Numbers for Kids Ages 8-12 9-12 4-8, Include 30 Acrylic Paint Pot, 5 Brush, 3 Stretched Canvas(8x10", 8x9", 8x8") First impressions: out of the box I really liked the look of these kits, the canvases have really cute designs on them and the lines are very clean and easy to follow. I got these to do art with my nieces during the holidays but unfortunately the eleven year old and the nine year old lost interest a third of the way in and the seven year old didn’t even want to start because she said it looked too hard to do. If you have people who are super focused and have a lot of patience and feel confident they can follow the number prompts then I think these are great for you. My sister ended up taking over one of the canvases and is having a very nice time working on it. The acrylic paint pots have enough paint for all three paintings and they dry quite quickly. Installation/setup: use the paint pots (labeled with each of the numbers for paint by number) and paintbrushes as well as three canvases are all provided and you can dive right in to painting. Note that there is only one set of numbered paints for all three kits so if multiple people are working they will have to share. Notes: I got these for art projects with my nieces but they lost interest pretty quickly due to the intricacy of the project. Price point: these were listed at $22 when I got them. I think that is a very nice price point for three good looking canvases and good quality paints. Final thoughts: you’re going to need to use these with kiddos who focus well and possibly have done prior experience with paint by numbers. Very nice set. This is a great, complete set for kids. The spaces to paint aren’t too tiny but they’re also small enough to help work on fine motor development. My youngest liked how there was a picture with the painting to see how it’s supposed to look, rather than just the numbers. It was easier to follow for her.
