  • A mixed bag out of the box, awesome after tweaking
Style: TG-3F
Opening the box revealed an absolutely beautiful looking item with no visible external flaws or blemishes, however working the controls revealed a strange "catch" in the mechanism. Upon disassembling everything I discovered (as apparently many others have) a bit of a "burr edge" inside the body that was interfering with the mechanism. I also found that every thread, seal, and "O" ring was bone dry. I'm a handy sort and have plenty of micro-tools (because I build fine scale models) and quickly sorted the burr out with a diamond micro-file and then used small dabs of Nyogel to lube the "O" rings and threads and once that was done the re-assembled airbrush was silky smooth with a predictable and consistent response. Big pluses for how the "tuned" airbrush works, BIG negatives for sending out an essentially unfinished product. Passche quality control needs to step up and fix this issue or offer a recall-and-repair for the less handy users out there. The tail "limit adjustment" knob (I don't know what else to call it) is a nice feature because if you run 20-25psi with the large needle, this sucker is capable of throwing a LOT of paint so it is nice to be able to set it so you don't accidentally create a full blast mess unintentionally. SUMMARY: If this item hadn't had the burr, requiring some tweaking, it would have been a full 5 star item. As it is, a less mechanically inclined user might simply return an otherwise fine airbrush due to trigger stickage. ... show more

  • Absolutely excellent.
Style: TG-3F
I bought a Paasche since I remember the one I had when I was a youth and used to build models. And then I started reading the reviews. Poor build quality, cruddy action (I usually go for the bad reviews first on Amazon), and I started to get worried. Shouldn't have. As can been seen from the pic, I got mine, with all parts, no build issues, no quality issues. Nice heft, good weight, and if the 'Paasche TALON' logotype etched into the side is a little 1950's Mike Brady-looking, we'll just forgive that. When I pulled it out of the box, the action *did* feel a little ratched, even compared it to the chinesium one that came with the tankless battery compressor from spraygunner that I got for touch-up work. Ugh. Now I'm afraid I wasted my money. I shouldn't have been. Once this thing was attached (and here we have my ONLY complain with this device, why does Paasche have to have a different word for EVERYTHING?! *huff* At least they sell a bevy of 1/8th adapters directly, and I was prepared) and pressurized, the action was smooth and subtle. I've shot everything from ink to acrylics to primer to metallics through this and it's gorgeous. Fit and finish is awesome, and if I had to come up with a complaint, whatever this orange durakote that they put on the cup cap and tail-end is, it can make the cap hard to get out sometimes. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful machine, and I'd post a video if I hadn't put ink in it with the PSI on my compressor still set to 'acrylic primer' and made a mess. Seriously, this was WELL worth the money. Easily the equal of a brush twice its price. Taking off a star because Paasche fittings are all unique and that's kind of a pain in the arse. ... show more

  • There's a reason people say to buy an Iwata
Style: TG-3F
Not a whole lot positive to say about this product. It's a bit of an embarrassment to see it listed as "made in the USA" really. Gravity cup is out of round. Air valve has problems. The airbrush body is not very well made. This has been nothing but trouble for me for the year that I've had it. There's a reason that a lot of people advise people to buy an Iwata Eclipse. That product simply has far superior "out of the box" performance and reliability. Sadly this type of product value is only in the past for Paasche, and similar to the comments of others here, the so called "customer service" at Paasche is lacking. I had contacted them about the problem with the cap not fitting on the gravity cup, and all they said via e-mail was "send it in". No address to send it to, no information on if it would cost anything beyond shipping, no return authorization number, etc. I was left with the very distinct impression that the underlying message was "we've got your money, sucks to be you." ... show more
