  • Creative excitement
Purchased this product for 3 of my families and all three ladies were very happy and excited to get started on the activities.

  • Good resource
I'm not a very naturally creative person, so this is nice to flip through and get ideas. There's a lot of good ideas in here, and ones I haven't seen before. The activities are simple and easy to do, but still fun. I appreciate the materials lists and mess scale. I'm trying to get my kids outside more and they're pretty good at finding things to do, but sometimes they, and I, need a little push to get the wheels turning, so these activities will be a big help in that regard. I think a lot of these will be fun even for my 8 year-old. ... show more

  • Some good outdoor activities, some not so much
This book has several good points, starting with the fact that these are all activities that can be done outdoors, using materials that are mostly at hand around the house and/or in the yard. Also, I like that some are geared for groups of preschoolers, and others can be done with one child. Other features of the book that I like are its table of contents and basic illustrations. As an example of one of the better activities, IMO, you and your preschooler(s) go for a walk with a paper grid and crayons, keeping count of the colors of front doors on the houses. (Walking, numbers, colors, and simple graphing, all in one activity!) That said, I rated this as 4 stars instead of 5 because, again in my opinion, many of the activities are not the best in terms of execution, nor in holding one's attention for more than a minute. As examples: (1) Lay in the grass and make snow-angel moves with your arms and legs. (2) Fingerpaint with pudding. And (3) One activity starts with some uninflated balloons and 'small toy dinosaurs,' instructing one to 'insert one toy dinosaur into each balloon' (Maybe others could achieve this, but not me.) Despite that, everyone can likely find at least a few activities in this book that appeal to them. ... show more

  • Get Out & Get Exploring!!
I work with preschool aged children and this book is a great resource to have on hand. It has some wonderfully fun and new ideas for outdoor activities as well as some basic, oh yeah, haven't done that activity in ages kind of reminders. The animal action activity on page 12 is something I do weekly with the kids but the alpha bean throw on page 30 is a fabulous outdoor literacy activity that is new to me. This book is well organized and divided into categories with learning skills listed for each activity. I excited to work my way through this outdoor full with my kids over the next few months! I absolutely recommend this book for you own kids, preschool teachers, or as a gift to someone with littles! ... show more

  • Gets you up and moving outside! You don't need many tools to do these activities.
This activity book is illustrated beautifully and really gets you up and moving outside! My children have an absolute love for nature; this book made them love it even more! There are so many fun, and age appropriate, activities in this book. You won't need much of anything to do almost all of them, and that's the best part of the book, because there are many parents that don't have the ability to go out and buy things to entertain their children. This alleviates that problem! We have a big backyard and have been able to accomplish most of the activities there, but you can also go for a walk to do this! There are so many endless activities here, and it will promote your children to want to go outside and explore nature more! I hope your children have as much fun as mine did! ... show more

  • A great idea book for outdoor play
I really needed ideas to keep our toddler engaged while outside of the house. This book is perfect. There are 80 activities that should appeal to a variety of pre school ages. The steps are easy to follow and I read them to our toddler and describe what we will be doing. I love that there is a guide at the top of each page that describes the skills covered by the activity. I quickly scan the guide at the top and stop when I find one that fits my need for the day. A great aide to keeping a toddler busy and happy. ... show more

  • Could easily be used for ages 2 to 6
I am a stay at home mom with the three year old and six year old. The book suggest ages 3 to 5, but I think you could easily use it for ages 2 to 6. It offers a ton of great ideas to keep my kids busy. I especially like the outdoor activities. This book is well organized. There are five chapters ranging from creative ways to move your body to art outdoors. Great book! ... show more

  • Fun way to incorporate outdoor learning
I ordered this book for ideas to use with my younger elementary students as part of a school library. As a STEM Academy, we try to incorporate science in unique and varied ways and this set of outdoor activities is a fun way to teach science outdoors in a way that doesn't feel like a "lesson" for my students. Even if you don't follow the activities exactly, just looking through can give some really great inspiration! ... show more
