Hey, it's a plastic box with a clamp on lid. Not even close to worth the price, but as plastic boxes go, this one is fairly well designed for it's purpose. I needed to go from one single outdoor outlet to multiple outlets. I mounted this within range of the existing outlet, then plugged in an outdoor surge protector, sealed it up, and viola, a multi outlet, waterproof option. Pros: * It's BIG. Plenty of room for a power strip, & wires, as well as your hands to get in there. * It has room for 8 exiting wires, so 1 (or 2) will be from your surge protectors to the original power source, but all others will be from the surge protectors to your electronics. I used a single surge protector (short & wide so it fits), so I only lost one hole to the power source. All other holes can be used to plug other stuff into the power strip. * The wire holes all have a bit of foamy stuff blocking the holes, so when you put the wire in it, then clamp down the lid, it forms a waterproof barrier. * The mounting holes are keyhole type exterior mounts, so not a source of water penetration. * The lid clamps down pretty securely, with 4 external clamps. (Be sure you allow room for those, when deciding where to mount the box.) Cons: * It's BIG, so you need to have a place to mount it in mind. My deck rafters are big enough to hold it out of sight, but this would be an eyesore on the exterior of a house, if visible. * It needs access room not only to mount it on the hidden keyhole screws, but also to have room to remove the lid clamps completely, as this lid doesn't flip up out of the way. It has to be completely removed. * They don't include a mounting screw template, so you start from scratch, making your own, to find where to place the screws. It's plastic, so it's not gonna give, if you're a bit off, so you best be sure before setting that second screw. * There's no way to secure the power strip the box once you install one. They're just free floating in a big plastic box. I didn't like that, so since mine is under the deck, & not exposed to monsoon weather, I screwed my power strip right through the plastic & into the rafter behind it. At least now it's not free floating around in there. My outdoor power strip is supposedly waterproof, so I'll risk it. Manufacturers: You could easily include 4 foam washers, so folks could screw in their power strips, and still keep the waterproof nature of the box. If it's good enough to use for the wires, it should be good enough for the screws, so we can secure the power strips inside the box, to the mounting wall behind. I'd even prefer that to the keyhole mounts, too. They're a pain, & any error in measurement creates an unnecessary headache. Foam washers are a good solution to both issues. ... show more

I purchased this box to house the Christmas house light connections on the roof of our home. Because we have a couple inflatables which remain on 24/7 and regular light sets that outline the house we use Bluetooth switches to control all this. They all go in to different waterproof boxes to make there connections. These waterproof boxes provide the protection our electrical connections require. It ended up being a little smaller than I needed so went with a bigger competitor instead. The build quality of this one is better than the competitors and feels more solid (Sockitbox and Tonyful). The clasps are better quality on this box vs the other two also. If you're using 12AWG extension cord (about a half inch thick), its going to be iffy. Although the cable passthroughs seem a better quality, it looks like 14AWG or smaller extension cord fits best. If the size was bigger and supported thicker cables, I would have stuck with this one. Really wish they made one cause this is a superior outdoor box. ... show more

I bought this again because I have 2 others. One was the same and the other was slightly different but the holes that the electric wires protrude out of was not as good as this one. The size of the box is big enough to fit a power strip and 4 or 5 extension cords plugs. I have a green and grey box. Highly recommend this to hide power strips or other o organize Christmas lights and plugs. ... show more

Nice large size, enough for a power strip and several plugs, plus tall enough for slack in the cords. My only complaint is that I wish it came with a template for the screw holes (external, they don't go into the main compartment) because I'm lousy at measuring. Made my own template by using a scrap piece of paper and punching holes. Also had to use my own screws since none were provided. Only an issue if you wanted to mount the box to a surface. ... show more
