I was hesitant to purchase after reading numerous reviews that described an intolerable gasoline/fuel odor. I have a very sensitive nose and did not smell gasoline. If anything the scent was a burlap scent that was minimal. They will be used at a wedding shower. I would never wash/ in a machine given the materials. I would spot clean and line dry. The lengths varied slightly between each runner. I was able to gently stretch. There is a string that stabilized the fringe for shipping that was very easy to remove.
