I just received this light today and it is awesome! I am a jewelry maker and I often work on pieces on the go and this is the perfect light for travel, or in my studio that has many different stations. I didn’t realize that there is also a LCD screen with the date, time and temp and a timer function that works like a kitchen timer not a stopwatch (which would be convenient if you wanted to time how long it takes you to make something) But that’s not why I purchased the light. Ott really does make the best crafting lights and I can see myself using this for so many different functions (camp cooking, Crafting, reading. It’s so compact you can fit it into a tote/medium sized purse and take it anywhere.     • Battery/charging problems make lamp worthless

I bought this lamp to use while doing embroidery. I needed a lamp that could easily move from room to room. The light it puts out is wonderful, but you rarely get to use it. The battery dies quickly and the light turns itself off while charging. The only way I could use it was to leave it plugged into an outlet all the time, which defeated the purpose of having a portable lamp. And now I can’t even do that because the connector for the charging cable will not stay plugged into the lamp. When I first purchased it, I contacted customer support for Ott who seemed unconcerned with the fact that it kept turning itself off after a very short time running on battery only. I was told this was normal. Also, as others have said, it doesn’t transport easily because it is difficult to hold it or move it without turning it on. The light is exactly what I needed. A small work light to use for needlework in the evenings in a spot where I don’t have an extra outlet. But, the battery life is atrocious. I can’t even get 90 minutes of work in before it dies. And I have no idea what the purpose of the alarm clock/display is. I’d overlook this if the battery would last long enough for me to do an evening’s work. But it seems to be lasting less than it did when I got it just a week ago. ... show more

I’m pretty disappointed in the light. I’ve purchased from Ott several times and this is the first time to be disappointed. The brightest setting isn’t all that bright, but the most irritating part is that the day and the date don’t match up. It is 12/9, which in 2024 in Atlanta, GA, USA is a Monday. However, at 8:12 AM, it is showing as Tuesday. I don’t see a way to change the day, only the date. I tried removing the battery and then resetting the time, but I still can’t get the date and day to match. Maybe because this is a leap year? Not irritating enough to return it, but I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone else. Seems like bad programming and why on earth would anyone want a lamp that would play the birthday tune for FIVE minutes? ... show more
