Not as big as I hoped it would be. I ordered a 36 and decided to keep that one for my 500 mile backpacking trip. It was a little less comfortable so I recommend you try different types of the Osprey brand to find the one that fits you best.

Easily the best system I own. In full disclosure, I own 14 Osprey Products!!! Why? Because of what you carry with you into the deadly wilderness fails, you fail. Failure might mean death. Most likely, it will mean nature and the wilderness wins. If you follow me and read my reviews you will know that I have a great appreciation for Osprey Products and their extraordinary quality and utility, yet they always seem to be awesome looking as well! Whoever designs the look of Osprey products is about fearless fashion mastery while being keenly mindful of the heartless deadly nature of nature. The Osprey warranty is the best in the industry because it is highly unlikely you will every need it, but on the so far outside chance that you do, no matter when, you simply send it back or send a photograph of the damage and they will either repair or replace the product post haste... No matter how long we are talking about. THAT is a company that has the highest confidence in their products. Second, for full disclosure, I have not been compensated for this review, and I own 14 or more Osprey products. All that said, I did not have this particular size and design so I ordered it and WOW!! The design and function is only exceeded by the product appearance appeal! Truly exquisite design and engineering delivered perfectly in every way. This size is perfectly suited for its design and there is no wasted or frivolous space. Utterly masterful in how Osprey always seem to get it right. Funny story, my Son purchased another brand when shopping for travel gear and he asked my impression of the two products; the other brand and the Osprey product. I recommended the Osprey product and yet, my Son purchased the other big name brand. While he isn't disappointed in that product, he is VERY envious of my Osprey products, so much so that I got him an awesome Osprey backpack and an Osprey Waist Pack and he is utterly flummoxed with the extraordinary quality and design. To be honest, so am I. Any of Osprey's products solve many problems and no matter your adventure, you will get there better and happier with Osprey's solutions, this being one of their very best! Purchased this so I would have a small backpack. I did pack it up with a number of items so it was filled including a sleeping bag, stove, water bottles, small cookset, fire starter and emergency blankets. The weight of the pack with that in it was about 10 lbs. I did not fill all the pockets but did fill the main compartment and a few of the other pockets. This is a small pack. I believe it could be used for summer camping if you wanted to sleep without a pad under the stars. I probably could have packed a mesh net to keep out mosquitos. So I would say this is a nice pack, with good ventilation features to keep your back cool. It is a bit too small for me for most of my backpacking trips. I guess time will tell, but it is a very nice and well made small backpack. If you are looking for a backpack of this size, for it. Not too many places to tie thing onto the pack. It seems to be lacking those types of features. It does take a bladder water bag with sip hose. Like I said it is comfortable but doesn't hold much. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Osprey's Talon 33 is a solid technically-inclined backpack at the lighter and smaller end of the scale for overnight packs. You can't use it for more than a few days of travel, and even then you need to pack light, but it's great for short trips, heavily vertical backpacking and would work well as a main bag for general travel in warm climates--if you're willing to pack light. My wife has traveled all over Europe and Asia with an Osprey 40-liter pack, and has never been unable to carry it onto a plane, even fully loaded. This pack is technically a bit long for carry-on, but I doubt you will have a problem carrying it on. Osprey packs last and last. My wife's 40-liter bag is now eight years old. She has taken it on trips to Europe, Asia, and into Africa during that period. It has also been her primary bag on three week-long canoe trips to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area during that period, and it still looks like new. This backpack is a top-closure only model, and it doesn't zip but closes under the flap with a cinch-type closure. This makes this bag capable of having more jammed into it than a bag that zips shut by extending the capacity 4-6 inches vertically past beyond where a zipper would be placed. The Talon 33 has good hiking pole holders--an Osprey design that's still somewhat exclusive to them. There is an adjustable back plate to accomodate different torso sizes. Osprey's Airscape ventilated back is a great system for keeping air moving behind the pack. There's an external sleeve for a hydration bladder. On the front there's a mesh front pocket that is surprising in its ability to stretch and hold items--and far more durable than it looks, if my experience with past Osprey packs holds true. Finally, the pack has two side water bottle pockets and two nice-sized pockets on the waist belt. ... show more
