I bought this as a distraction piece for whenever we are traveling long distances or eating in restaurants. My child was 1.5 when I bought this for him- he is a little over 2 now. If your child has an issue putting things in their mouth, I would choose a different design. This particular one does not have a string connecting the pen to the pad. The pen itself can be dangerous if not used properly. The battery on this has lasted since we bought it in December. Ease of writing is exceptional! Performance has surpassed my expectations since my child is rough on things. It is the perfect size to slide into your diaper bag, too! My kids enjoy doodling and drawing on it. However, the screen isn't the brightest, and the images can be a bit hard to see in certain lighting conditions. These are fantastic, my kids love them. I purchased one for each of my two daughters. Lightweight so they are very easy to take around. We've used them while traveling, and also when we go out to dinner and its something to keep the kids occupied while waiting for food. Easier to take around then a full set of paper and markers, plus they think its more exciting because its a "tablet" (though they are not actually getting screen time, they are just drawing!) In fact we lost the first set of these bought (our fault), and we immediately bought another set. One warning: the erase button did not work at first on the second set we bought. Only because we had such a great experience with the first set, I contacted the company, and they said after a long period of no use, you may need to press the erase button repeatedly. They said about 10 times -- for me, it was more like 30 or so. But eventually, they did work! ... show more
