  • Awesome!
Style: Single
I used this on my Orion Starblast 4.5 eq reflector telescope, and it worked great! With the "stock" parts that came with it I still had a good view, but this definitely made it better! Although this magnification may be a little too much for the moon (in my opinion), it is awesome for the planets! With this i can see the rings of Saturn and (what i believe are) two of its moons. I can also see 4 of Jupiters' moons and at least one of the stripes on the planet itself! These were all at 150X magnification, with a 6mm eyepiece. As for the other planets, Venus and Mars are little more significant than a red and white dot and i have yet to find any others! As for construction this feels like good quality and is very clear! • Excellent lens extension!
Style: Single
Coupled with my 9 mm lens on a 4in reflector, the effective magnification is doubled as if using. 4.5 mm lens. When viewing Jupiter, the 4 visible moons now fill the entire view. It does not change the brightness of the view. Focus is as sharp as with the original lens by itself. Really nice addition for my telescope. ... show more

  • Excellent first accessory for amateurs
Style: Single
I'm new to telescopes and astrophotography, and decided to add this as my first accessory to a 5.5" reflector. I love it, and highly recommend it as an early accessory for other beginners. It is well built, clear, and effectively doubles the number of eyepieces I have. For viewing, it adds great additional magnification to the moon, and likewise sizes up planets (particularly, gives me a more satisfying view of Saturn). For these applications, I typically use my 10mm eyepiece through this Barlow. With moon photography, I find this is a great accessory for a prime focus setup to give better detail for moon craters. I use a micro 4/3 camera in this configuration. Overall, I find this well worth the investment. I can't compare to the more expensive variants out there, so take my word as an amateur and enthusiast. ... show more

  • Great product. Big difference in power with just this slight magnification.
Style: Single
Great product. This is a picture of the star Sirius(which looks much better and clearer when viewing in the telescope itself) in which I’m using an Orion 130st telescope with 10mm eyepeice and the 2x Barlow. I can see stars and planets much better with just this slight magnification and if you look closely at this picture you can see the heat waves in the star. ... show more

  • Do your research before using
Style: Single
I am a complete newbie as I purchased this to go with my Orion 90 mm refractor. Please read the other reviews before using. Also, it is important to note that even using with a wider eye piece, the width of the view will be smaller than using the same eye piece without this barlow lens. I am still using it with the standard eye pieces because I haven't been able to afford the pieces that I want. It is best to do your own research so that you can have reasonable expectations with the scope you are using in conjunction with any eye pieces that you want to use. You need to understand how these work, as well as the limit of your telescope, what it is you want to see, and what you need to do in order to see it, in order to truly appreciate this or any barlow lens. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. ... show more

  • MAGnificient
Style: Single
The lens does and performs as promised. I'm very happy with the results. I now can see the rings of Saturn clearly along with Jupiter's four moons. It's a clean and clear way of increasing my magnification for seeing the night sky. I got what I expected at a reasonable price.
