  • My happy, healthy dogs LOVE this kibble.
Flavor Name: Regional Red Size: 4.5 Pound (Pack of 1)
My dogs LOVE this kibble! They are going on 3 and 4 years old. One of my dogs is grain sensitive and used to have non-stop rashes and itchy skin before I switched to this diet. Since I switched to the diet outlined below they haven't had a day sick, a single tummy upset or a skin rash. I also struggled with them being a bit too heavy. I didn't want to cut them down any more because they were SO hungry. I rotate my dogs through the various flavors. My vet said that it is best not to rely on one protein source as dogs may get food sensitivities and/or bored with it. I used to buy the Orijen Arcana but don't anymore because it is lower protein. I give my dogs fresh produce (fresh raw chopped vegetables once a day, and tiny quantities of fruit (I always check what dogs can and cannot have before giving them any produce) so they don't need the higher percentage of dried fruit and vegetables included the Arcana kibble. I also mix this kibble with Primal raw frozen nuggets so they get fresh meat with every meal, and they get one raw meaty bone each week (I buy the Primal bones from Pet Club). I felt weird about giving them dry kibble alone as that might be convenient for us, but I feel that it would be like us eating protein/energy type bars for every meal. I strongly feel that dogs (and humans) need fresh, raw ingredients too. I also give my dogs a spoonful of lactose free (a lot of dogs can't digest lactose) plain yogurt with one meal a day. One of my rescues came to me with a yeast infection due to the gross diet (you don't want to know) she was subjected to, at the very shonky "rescue" place. Our vet put her on a couple of courses of probiotics and recommended I give her yogurt each day to cure the infection. They both loved it so I saw no reason to stop. The probiotics and calcium can only be a good thing in my opinion, and if I run out they sit by thier bowls waiting after they eat, 'cause they know its missing! For treats I give them Canidae Grain Free dog treats as they are very low calorie, small, firm, chewy treats that can be put in your pocket without them disintegrating during a walk or training. It took me a lot of time to sort out what worked best for us. I am not an expert, but my dogs love thier food and my vet says that they are in perfect health and at the perfect weight, and that thier diet couldn't be better, so perhaps this info might help someone put together a complete diet for thier dog. Here is what I feed them twice a day: All dogs are different, but my 18lb dog (who was a slightly overweight 21lb dog before this diet) gets: - 1/4 cup Orijen kibble twice a day. -1 thawed primal meat nugget twice a day. I rotate through the various Primal Frozen meat nuggets. You can also buy these freeze dried and reconstitute them with water but I prefer giving them the raw primal nuggets. In the morning I add a spoonful of plain lactose-free yogurt to thier dishes. And in the evening I add about 1/4 cup produce instead of the yogurt. Generally a mix of two items - either chopped green beans, cucumber, broccoli, carrots, cooked squash (I use canned organic non-sweetened, plain - beware pie pumpkin with spices) red, yellow, green peppers, a little romaine, other leafy greens - sometimes a couple blueberries, pieces of apple, orange, pineapple, melon etc. My 11lb dog gets exactly the same except she gets a bit less than half of of the kibble that I give 18lb dog at each meal. Once a week I give them thier dinner minus the primal frozen nugget and then give them a raw meaty or marrow bone which they gnaw on for hours. It helps clean thier teeth too. Hope this info is of use to someone. If so, please click "helpful" as I spend a lot of time on my reviews hoping to perhaps help someone, and I also believe in supporting great products! I am happy to answer any questions. I couldn't be happier with the quality of this kibble. ... show more

  • Great food
Flavor Name: Six Fish Size: 25 Pound (Pack of 1)
I love the ingredients and my dogs seem to like the taste of it. We like to soak it in water before giving it to them so it’s a little easier to digest.

  • From puppy to adult to senior and beyond!
Flavor Name: Puppy Large Size: 25 Pound (Pack of 1)
I found this brand when I first got my 4 legged son. I wanted the best food I could find because I believe you are what you eat. It is full of nutrition and fresh and without any fillers - we're talking quality and since he's the world to me, I just wanted to give him the best, despite the horrendous price! - should I take a start off for the price? - 1/2 a star perhaps, but the product is excellent. SO, most important point, I have been giving him this food since puppy and he's now 9 years old - that's right, I never moved him from this food, INSTEAD, I just started giving him less once he reached adult status. I mean, why change the food to an adult formula, when the adult formula all it is, is just a watered down version of this food? I don't care what they say about puppy food vs adult food, I've read enough about to come to a personal conclusion that it's a way to make more money. I just give him less of puppy food, yet a GSD that is 9 years old and 100lb is no joke, yet he's all lean and muscle! Also, he still loves it, eats it every day as excited as the first day he tried it. Has perfect, super shiny hair and a wet nose all the time, what else could one want?! ... show more

  • Our pup likes this food
Flavor Name: Small Breed Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)
Our Morkiepoo likes this food, and she seems healthy eating it. The vet thinks that as well. A little pricey for the product, but appears to be of better quality than previous foods we have tried. Dog Food Advisor has the specs of this and others for comparison.

  • Great Food BUT...
Flavor Name: Six Fish Size: 25 Pound (Pack of 1)
I realize all dogs are different but I can't feed this as a primary meal to my four dogs. However, it's outstanding when used as a supplement only for my dogs. I am unable to feed it to my three German Shepherds and Chihuahua as their primary meals because fed in full meal amounts it causes all four to have extreme anal gland (AG) issues, i.e., to develop dark brown circles around their anuses and foul secretions from their AGs. I'm talking all four of my dogs developed the exact same issues within two weeks of feeding this food as their primary meals. When I stopped, all four dog's AG issues cleared completely up withing a week and a half. I'm a Dog Behaviorist, Trainer & Canine Nutritionist, so I'm very careful and meticulous about identifying what's good and not good to feed my canine kiddo's, and in what quantities. I have found that "supplementing" my dogs with this food has a wonderful effect on their skin and coats; My Sheps get 1/8 cup of this food on top of their primary food twice per day and my Chihuahua gets 7 kibbles of it on top of his primary food twice per day. No AG problems at all when fed as a supplement as such and noticably improved skin and coats within 6 weeks. Now, as for the smell, phew! Yes, even for a fish lover like me it is way too strong to store indoors! Rather, I pour the bag into airtight containers and store them in the garage refrigerator. Please know I'm not knocking this food as I truly believe using it as a supplement is far superior to using the fish oil supplements they used to receive. So, I give this food 5 stars as a supplement but have to give it only 4 stars as a primary food for my dogs due to the AG issues it clearly causes them when fed as their primary meals. ... show more
