Description

We are performers too, and we know the frustration of a performer when he realizes that a piece he likes so much cannot be played because the original range of a Hulusi is only a Ninth at best. We added the High 7 and High 1 (that's 1 with a dot on top for jianpu readers) so that we can play our favorite music pieces. Another complaint is the the 4 is always sheepish sounding or weak sounding. We added an additional key for the thumb, to alleviate this issue. All in all, we found the solution to solve the issues of Hulusi Musicians. Because we are musicians too! Hulusi- arguably the easiest instrument in Chinese Music, intrigues many people. A few simple notes, and yet the charm of the drone and the tone is unmistakable. By using denser materials for the gourd, the resistance to pressure is greater, and hence, one is able to greatly increase the dynamic range of the instrument. Using Cambodian Rosewood, This hulusi is clear and clean, and is extremely suitable for recordings and performances Modern bands using hulusi will use this model as its penetrating power is mostly unmatched.

  • Great Quality Instrament
Color: Soprano C
Love this instrament! Plays beautifully and is well made with metal buttons and a nice solid gourd. Comes in a hard shelled zipper case too, Great quality all around! Took about 5 weeks to arrive to my location in the US after ordering it. I consider that to be good shipping time from China. Very happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • very low quality
Color: Alto F
1. There are many white color small spots underneath the shining painting on the surface of Hulu. A scratch line also been found on the surface of Hulu. 2. 80 percent chance, the low pitch "6" sounds noise like the bursted water bubbles. 3. There are many of glitchs on the metal caps of the site-tubes, which hurts my fingers. 4. The foam case does not fit the instrument well, zipping it up hard. ... show more

  • Well-crafted, exquisite flutes
Color: Alto G
Extended-range Hulusi in key C: Ordered on 2/5/20 and arrived on 2/28/29. The instrument was sprayed with alcohol throughout five times, several hours apart, before using. It’s a well-crafted, exquisite flute with bright and shining appearance. The size is similar to my another C key Hulusi. However, it requires harder blow than the another one to make right sounds. There are light noises coming out at the end of each blow. The two extended holes producing higher B and C tones are what I may use often, and the mechanism for the two holes seems operating smoothly. However these two extended notes are NOT easy to produce properly. The additional key for the thumb seems to be NOT necessary, seems to me there is NO different ether it opens or NOT. Like most of Hulusi, the tones higher than A are a kind of dull, NOT sweet and mellow. In addition, it came with a practice book in Chinese with simple notes NOT the common five line music notes. Despite some shortcomings in this Hulusi, it seems to be worthy for me to purchase it. The extended-range Hulusi in key F : Ordered on 3/1/20 and arrived on 4/7/20. Similar to the one in key C mentioned earlier, this one is also well-crafted and beautiful. In fact, they look exactly the same except their size. This one is a little bigger and about 4” longer than the C key. It sounds sweet, mellow, and louder. However the tones above A are NOT as nice as those below A. It’s NOT easy to get the two extended tones E and F properly, wondering if the reed is NOT made for that range. Also when leaves the upper finger hole open and cover those below to have B, it sounds very dull and weak. Overall it’s a good Hulusi to me and I enjoy playing it. ... show more
