  • Great price edit 6/2017
I paid less than half the price our neighborhood music stores were charging for the same flute. I half expected there to be some sort of flaw or need work done to it, so I had it inspected by a shop. Everything is perfect, so I was relieved. It comes with a very good case and a few cleaning supplies, too! This was a new flute, not used. Edit 6/17--- She has been using this for over a year now and everything is still good. We need to get the cork replaced, but that is from normal usage and a cheap fix. Now that she knows how to play a few songs, the flute sounds pretty nice. I forgot to add that while we were getting the cork replaced and everything tuned up, the cashier pointed out that the case is not what Yamaha sells in the US. I did my research before buying. It is authentic. It is just overstock from a different country. I forgot what country mine was from, I think maybe Korea, but it is still authentic and a really good case. It is true that the Yamaha warranty will not apply to these flutes, but if you read the fine print on the warranty they really don't cover anything anyway. They would not have replaced the cork or pads, plus you have to pay to ship it to them and back. There are a lot of websites and pictures on the internet showing what an authentic flute looks like, and I was able to verify with both the internet and the repairman that this is an authentic flute. ... show more

  • It's a nice flute for the price though
Arrived with a few leaky keys. The shop I took it to for repair thought it might be a counterfeit. It's a nice flute for the price though. Very nice. Even if it is a counterfeit, it's very good for a student which is who I bought this one for.

  • Great student flute
I was concerned about buying a used flute on Amazon. I did my research and knew I wanted to buy my daughter (a middle schooler who has been playing flute for 4 years) a Yamaha, but could not afford a new flute. I took a chance and purchased this flute, figuring I could bring it to the repair shop if anything was not as described. This flute is in impeccable condition! I would absolutely purchase another instrument from this seller again. My daughter is thrilled with the sound and ease of playing this flute. We have been renting on from the school since she started playing and this was a definite upgrade. ... show more

  • Good flute, but I think my is defected
So the quality of the flute is nice from the exterior: great, new padding, no dents, etc. But when I first started playing I was having a bit of an issue with the sound. It has an airy sound. So i took it to my flute instructor and she said that she had to reset all the keys. It is a lot better now, but still has an airy tone. Not sure how to fix that, but I guess for a beginners flute it is good! ... show more

  • She seems to love it. Been a year now and she's not ...
Purchased for my niece who wanted to get into fluting. She seems to love it. Been a year now and she's not told me of any problems and continues to play. Shipped directly from Yamaha in Korea and it arrived in some 4 days. Price was less than what we could get in any store or rental program.

  • Band teacher endorsed as great beginner flute
My 4th grader is using this in the school band. His teacher commented that he was glad we bought the Yamaha for the quality. My son was using an Armstrong 101 as a loaner for the first 6 months before we switched and the sound quality is noticeable even to my novice non-flute playing ears. Researched flutes quite a bit and confusing, but Yamaha has such good beginner level quality for the price. We have the Yamaha digital piano and the Yamaha 3/4 JR1 guitar as well and happy with all them. I read that all beginner Yamaha flutes are now being made in Indonesia and also coming from South Korea, not worried about the quality. ... show more

  • Returned it instantly
I really had high hopes for the flute to work and be nice. It's been a few years since I got to play one again... But even then I knew the sound that was produced from this flute was not from inability to play. I tried a simple B-flat scale and the only keys that worked and were in key was D and F. Otherwise, G and C wouldn't play and the rest of the keys were extremely off key. I tried all I could, loosening and tightening the top and pieces, but nothing would work. Also, when I got the flute, it was VERY dirty. I used some wipes on it and gross yellowish-brown was coming off of it. Please, just go to your local music store. Don't waste your money here. ... show more

  • The flute works so well!
This is an amazing flute. My daughter really loves it, and it just works so well. It’s not a professional flute, of course, but it is the best out of all the student flights. There were not any damages, and it always looks so new after we polish it. It never smells bad, or rusts.
