Description

Organizing Solutions for People with ADHD, 3rd Edition offers cutting-edge strategies for anyone who wants to improve their physical space, time management, and peace of mind. This revised and updated version also includes helpful assessments of the latest digital tools for organization and new research on the ADHD brain. About 4.4% of the adult population—over 13 million Americans—have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD.) Yet four out of every five are not even aware of it, and how it can affect their professional and personal lives if not managed well. Divided into two easy-to-read sections, the first covering this life-changing new method and the second showing how to implement it in each part of the home, Susan’s practical solutions address the most common organizing dilemmas among her ADHD clientele, while also drawing on her own personal experience as the mother of a child with ADHD. The projects section, organized by the type of room or task, consists of practical organizing solutions for people living with ADHD: At work: prioritizing, time management, and organizing documents At home: paying bills on time, decluttering your house, scheduling and keeping appointments With kids: driving them to various activities, grocery shopping and meals, laundry, babysitters, organizing drawers and closets At leisure: organizing time for your social life, gym, and various other hobbies and activities Color photographs are featured throughout, as well as sidebars and testimonials from adults with ADHD, providing numerous organizational tips, such as the importance of dividing time into minutes or moments, task completion, how to avoid procrastination, asking for help, and minimizing unnecessary stuff. • very helpful!
As a mental health therapist who specializes in neurodiversity and is ADHD herself, I recommend this book to most of my clients and have used many of the tips myself.

  • Good, but nothing new for me
At my age, I've learned to employ most of these hacks and tricks already. But again they are functional hacks and tricks.

  • Perfect for those with ADHD and those who just need to be more organized
This book was recommended to me by my Psychiatrist as the only one he recommends for ADHD. I can totally see why. You don't have to actually be consistent and read. It's space out nicely with little blurbs, pictures, and great ideas. I already did some of them like not folding my clothes, but other ideas have been great for my neurodivergent brain. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Great book!
This book is great for people who don't understand what they need. I keep going back to it to learn what works best for myself.

  • I lost the book
I can only give this a 3 stars. As soon as I bought the book I misplaced it. So much for organizing

  • This book changed my life in one day!
I started listening to this book today for free on Audible. I had the day free of to do items other than - you guessed it! Declutter and organize. It is great to listen to while you are working. The book is to the point, funny, and I chuckled when it brought to light things I can relate too. This book created clarity. I am definitely have some ADHD . I have learned so many tools to help me function in so many ways. This book added those extra sprinkles to my ADHD tools cupcake. It really just kicked my mindset into AHA! This is the missing link! Lol. This book is fantastic at showing you HOW TO declutter- with simple, easy to understand logic- most every area in the house. It just felt overwhelming before for some reason and this book lit something inside of me that made so much sense. I accomplished paring down my tupperware, lightening my cookware, (making sure each item is stored with a lid attached) no stacking, my linen closet got an overhaul, family game and activity area, my bedroom closet is CLEAR. As I said before, these were just problem areas that I just couldn’t seem to tackle. I am so excited to continue these methods on the rest of the house and help out in my kids bedroom as well. The review about the book being ableist or only for hoarders I just don’t agree with. It’s fine for people to have different perspectives but I don’t want to sway people away from this very fine book. As you can see in my review- I accomplished all this on my own. Suggesting to hire help is wonderful though! We have to prioritize what is important to us. If someone needs to save money to hire help then do it! And I am not a hoarder- just had some struggle with decluttering - which is a main key to organization! I am stoked! Wishing you all amazing clarity in your lives! Thank you so much to the author. ... show more

  • Lots of tips and techniques
I identified with so many of the problems discussed in this book that I thought I'd better do an ADHD test on myself. Ha! The results showed that I do not have ADHD so my conclusion is that the solutions in this book would be useful for anyone as they are generally time-saving without having to put in too much effort. Most of the tips and techniques are not new to me by any means. Just doing them has always been an issue! So the no-nonsense tone of the author maybe good for me. I did not agree with some of her suggestions though...like putting leftover food in ziplock bags. Overall, useful book for anyone with a family who wants to get their homes organized. 4 stars. ... show more

  • Only ADHD Book That Works For Me Bec IT GETS TO THE POINT (no fluff)
I have the first edition from 2006, so can't comment on the updates, but this book works for us because each topic is just one or two short pages with a few, key, REALISTIC suggestions. Most suggestions involve paring down & making easy-access fixes (rather than what might be the most visually beautiful), i.e., "efficiency before beauty". Very practical. Does not overwhelm or demand expensive products/items. ... show more
