I was sick of nasty grocery store coffee. Always bitter. Was reading up about all the chemicals and mold in some of these brands. May as well brew dirt (even the Peet’s which I was told would be awesome.) So I went to the coffee bloggers. Decided to find a “clean” coffee since the thought of mold and pesticides had grossed me out. So I ordered Top Shelf Liquid Gold. WOW!!!! Accidentally but thankfully failed to notice I would need to GRIND it. Got it discovered the GRIND, and ordered a Cuisinart Grinder for $20 model DCG-20BKN that works great by the way. The first cup was aromic smooth flavorful It’s beautifully bright. I taste some notes of apple, honey, and maybe even some milk chocolate. I hear the dark roast is amazing too. I love Peruvian Coffee in general and prefer light roast. I am also sensitive to freshness. This coffee is great! Smells great, tastes great, I feel great drinking it. I think that the claims about no mycotoxin may be true. I really feel a health difference between drinking this coffee and another brand without this claim. High quality. Give it a try. ... show more

    • Totally unoffensive light roast, but kind of light on flavor.
Not the cheapest at only 10oz a bag, but not expensive either. I only buy light roast coffee, which this is. It has the characteristics of what I'm looking for in a coffee bean, not dark roasted and greasy. It brews up as expected and does not offend with the burnt taste of a dark roast, but the flavor is really kind of bland. It's not a bad coffee at all, but it doesn't inspire me to want to buy more. ... show more

    • Buy freshly roasted instead…
This coffee is pretty okay. It’s more acidic than I anticipated. Mellow, not bitter, light and a bit watery. Flavors not very rich, but it is pretty smooth. I brew with pour over and hand grind beans. I brewed this coffee with a variety of water temps and grind coarsenesses. I enjoyed this coffee most with medium to medium coarse grind and water around 200F I couldn’t find any indication on package of the timeframe the beans were roasted, so I have no idea how fresh they were. After drinking this for a week, I went to a roaster a mile from my home and purchased coffee that was freshly roasted and I’ll never buy this stuff again. Bottom line: it’s not bad but there’s no comparison between this and freshly roasted coffee. Getting that freshly roasted coffee completely changed my view of coffee as a whole. I now drink black coffee and I have a nourished feeling after drinking it. If you can, but locally roasted coffee that is FRESH because it’ll change your life. ... show more

First off, I must have been half asleep when I ordered this because I meant to order ground coffee, not whole bean. That part was easy enough to get around by grinding them myself however when I used the coffee in my Ninja coffee maker, it never processed well. I would get awful looking coffee that would separate so quickly. It tasted weird. I cannot recommend these coffee beans at all. Back to Laird organic or Newman’s Own. ... show more

This coffee has virtually no bitterness whatsoever, it's like the perfect cup every time. The only issue is that we could not regularly afford it (not their fault- as reflected by star rating), so we only get it if we have guests or for special occasions.
