After reading a number of good reviews on the OontZ 3 , I decided to try one. The price was low enough to take the risk and so I gave it a shot. When the package arrived, the box was rather small and I thought it was perhaps the wrong item because no speaker system that received such great reviews could possibly come in such a small box ! I was even more surprised when I opened the box to find the item exactly as the image portrayed in the ad and started to laugh thinking that there couldn't be so many people that believe this thing could possibly do what they said it would. I figured for the price it wasn't even worth it for me to send it back so I decided to have some fun with the little thing. Plugged in my Sony MP-3 player and fired it up as the unit did come partially charged. Instructions were easy enough to follow as the diagram clearly showed what every button and indicator light would do as well as the inputs for non wireless items and usb charging. I initially kept the volume low so as not to destroy the little thing right off but quickly discovered that increasing the volume did not bring about any distortion ! The clarity, fidelity of sound was amazing ! OK, so it wasn't as loud as the Bose but... I had it outside on my deck and my brother and I could feel the bass vibrations in the decking boards ! My wife came home while we were now "blasting" this thing and asked me to turn it down so we could speak ! She was totally blown away by what it could do and how clear it sounded. Next was to try the blue tooth side for my cell phone in the car to see how well it would perform as a hands free speaker system. Yet again it was outstanding ! This thing is so amazing sounding and SO portable, it's easier to move around than the Bose or any other player we have. It just replaced all of them because it takes up virtually no room at all... can be placed just about anywhere, even hidden from view and fill the area with great fidelity no matter what you are playing. I tested it with a variety of recordings to see if there would be any discrepencies in the sound quality. Clannad, The Doors, Motown, Jimi Hendrix, Moody Blues and many others all performing and sounding fantastic ! I use it on my patio when friends are over and can simply pickup the speaker and MP-3 player with one hand and move it to the kitchen counter.... the dining room for background music, etc... "They" say it's great for college dorms and I'm sure it is but it goes well beyond the dorm my friends ! My brother is ordering one to use with his laptop as an external monitor... again... so much more space saving than his old conventional monitor. It doesn't have a powered sub woofer but he said the bass is more than sufficient from such a tiny, portable unit ! We made comparisons to other systems... called it the working mans Bose and even made jokes that it was designed with "alien technology"... who knows ? Mebbe ? The engineers at Cambridge did a magnificent job on this one and even though it is built in China, you will NOT second guess the quality of this item ! I will be ordering a few more as gifts before someone realizes what a winner this is and the price starts to skyrocket or they become back ordered for a year due to demand !! Can I say more ?? Probably ! But I will simply end with this one closing remark.... "BUY ONE AND SEE" ! ... show more

PROS: Twice the punch of the solo, and only two dollars more; it's a no brainer. Of all the Oontz speakers IMHO this is the best value for the money. Bluetooth was super easy to connect. Controls and directions also super easy. As this is a totally Bluetooth speaker it is looking for a connection as soon as it powers on. Volume easy to adjust. So far long battery life, will change if it changes. Some distortion at high output but that is to be expected. There is some Base through the passive radiator in bottom. For its size it has accurate sound reproduction even into 80 percent volume. CONS: I think there is no way this is truly IPX5 rated, even by their own literature and from the totally exposed underbelly of the speaker due to the passive radiator. Did not test as directions even say that it is only lite rain and a hose at low pressure is more than a lite rain. Base compared to Echo Dot is non-existent. Yes I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a great small portable speaker system to go with there BT player. UPDATE: 2/8/2025 Have had this speaker now for around a year or so. Holds charge like a champ. Still pairs with my BT devices flawlessly. I still want a smidge more base, but clear sound rocks. Also there are ways to get more base out of this speaker. Bass port is on bottom so make sure on hard surface or better yet use an open box or unused plastic trash can putting the speaker inside with the can on its side will yield more bass. I think this speaker is better IMHO than the Plus or Pro models as when you look at the size difference they are probably using the same size speakers. I recently purchased the OontZ Angle 3 Bluetooth 5.4 Speaker, and I couldn't be more thrilled with my choice! This little powerhouse packs amazing sound quality into a compact design. I am being generous with four stars, because the sound is just horrible. I realize everyone likes a different sound, but there is virtually no bass. Just a really cheap, tinny sound. I also realize it is unfair to have unrealistic expectations from something so small. There is only much bass and depth that can come from a small item. That said, the round Notabrick unit (I think that was the name) that I bought before this, was sized similarly, had FAR superior sound, and I believe was the same price or cheaper. Just very impressive, but after a month it started emitting loud, random tones, which made it worthless. This unit at least is very solid. Connects well. Incredible battery life. And thankfully no obnoxious logo that I either needed to black out or pry off. The controls are not intuitive. I am constantly searching for the power and volume buttons. Difficult to pry up the cover flap of the charging receptacle. I was taken in by the brand, Cambridge Soundworks, which as I recall from decades ago made excellent sound systems, but this is little more than a child's toy as far as sound quality. ... show more
