  • Arctic Air Pure Chill 2.0
If you're deciding to buy or not like I was, here are few points. This is not an A/C. Don't expect it to cool of room or make ski slope snow. It is personal desk fan. Once you accept that, you can decide if you want it. I like it and I'm not disappointed. First let say that evaporative cooling is a myth. It does exist in theory, but in real life is totally inefficient. What you get is a mini humidifier and desk fan with the added benefit of vapor mist. The vapor mist is the part to experiment with. Freezing the filter did not show any help. Keeping it wet is just fine. The reason is that in hot room ice melts right before your eyes. That also applies to water in the reservoir. Standing water warms up rather quick in a hot room and defeats the cooling idea. So the solution that seem to help is filling the reservoir with just enough water to keep it from running dry. Maybe quarter of the tank or less, and keep adding ice instead of water. Seating in front of fan in hot weather feels good, and keeping the water cold makes cooler breeze. You can also put little bottle cap with scent inside the unit and have room freshener. My favorite is peppermint oil. I run it at low since the fan is noisy on high setting and I want just a breeze, not a tornado. When it becomes really hot I turn on A/C, but for spring weather that fluctuates from hot to cold this thing is just fine. ... show more

  • Utter Garbage
I read the reviews and figured people were thinking this little thing could do more than it’s set up for. I originally bought it for a way to slightly cool down my kids room in the summer, didn’t think it would be anything like a real AC but maybe cut it down a degree or 2. I did everything it said for best results, added ice cubes and froze the filter. Didn’t make a difference. It’s what we kind of figured so we decided to try it in our in home office for while my husband and I work. That way it would be pointed directly at a person and hopefully help a little. Froze the filter again, added ice and cold water and sat on the desk pointed directly at my husband. The temp of air blowing out was literally no different than a normal fan only had a little moisture added, which we don’t really need the humidifier part of it but that’s how it works. During his 8 hour shift I can’t tell you how many times I added ice cubes to help cool it down a bit. He was completely out of water before his lunch break (this thing is supposed to last 10 hours) and worst of all, just a giant puddle on his desk from the condensation, even with a paper towel, then regular towel under it. Do not waste your money. This is 100 % not worth it. ... show more

  • Perfect if you're cheap.
Tldr: it's just a fan that doesnt blow hot air on a hot night. cool air, not freezing on tap water. Put a bottle in the tank to make it last longer than 3 hours. I have a 1 sq feet room. On a usual night around summer time my room is hot and humid enough to build sweat on the body part laying on the bed. It takes about 1 hour of cold tap water to lower the room temp enough so I dont sweat on the bed but I still feel kind of sticky. The seller claims that the product can shoot a water mist for 10 hours but in 1 hour on high mist it has already used up 1/3 of the water tank. Even if I set it to low mist I highly doubt it would last 10 hours. That's why I put a bottle in the tank to supply water by cutting a half inch hole on the side of the cap. Now that's 10 hours! It's also a bad idea to step out of the room since it immedeality resets the cooling process, 1 hour wasted. So if you gotta pee or you farted too much, turning your room into a room of death... suffer or stay cool. The choice is yours.... well. I mean you can always point the air at yourself for maximum effect which ultimately keeps you cool throughout the usage but I dont like having an air flow at me when I'm sleeping, I always wake up with a headache. I give it 3 stars because it does work but its not mind blowing. perfect if you're a cheapskate and you dont mind being a little sticky. ... show more

  • Heads Up Info
Our AC failed on a 100+ degree day. You can imagine trying to get service at this time. These were available for same day delivery. I expected something like a mini swamp cooler, but it is not! It has two little mist-makers that a small fan blows over. The "cartridge" is not a wetted filter ala swamp cooler -- it is a set of felt-like sponges that the wetted air blows by, not through. They will soak up some of the mist. The directions say you can pre-wet them and freeze them for added cooling. We did not try that. Heads up #1: It cools by evaporation --- if you are living in a humid place, it won't help you any more than a fan! Heads up #2 is the water. I suggest you use distilled/ purified water. Because it is a mister, it can fail due to minerals/ sediments plugging the tiny orifices. ( I suspect many of the "quite working" reviews are related to that.) Also, tap water minerals will give you a fine "dust" as the water evaporates. If you have a lung condition, you DO NOT want to add fine particles to your air. Heads up #3: Look carefully and make sure you have all the tape removed. I have one louver that will not adjust because I broke it due to tape. Heads up #4: Whatever you set it on will get wet-- so be careful of your particle board furniture/floors. Setting the louvers slightly up will help with the front drips. I note that one reviewer added a drip catcher to theirs as a fix. There will still be leakage from inside. The manufacturer failed to provide a pan feature at the bottom of the device. We are using those cheap plasticware covers (ala tupperware) to set them on. I suppose you could use a cookie sheet, foil, plasticwrap, etc for the same purpose. Another reviewer used this for the purpose https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007PKH3E4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Bottom Line -- I am happy with them (we bought 2). They kept us reasonably comfortable 'til our AC got a temporary band-aid. The outside fan motor was going out on thermal protection- which lead to the compressor stopping due to high pressure. We are waiting on a replacement motor that is "Mojave" rated. If the existing motor burns up before the new one arrives, we are OK with these little units!! ... show more
