Go slowly. I taped regular paper to the foam and traced my parts onto it. Then cut through the paper layer. That way you don’t have to deal with metallic paint markers or stray marker strokes. There were times it was tough to determine if I was all the way through a layer or not, but going slowly and using my fingers worked out fine. ... show more

    • Good choice so long as you cut all the way through
The foam is very sturdy. However, the layers are not easy to peel apart. This is great once you've finished, but not so great when you are carving out the tool outlines... I'd only recommend this if you will be cutting your outlines all the way through.

It takes some patience to make this product work properly. If you use the wrong tool to cut it and aren't patient it will not perform as expected. Using a scalpel as they suggest is best. It allows you to stay close to the item youre trying to form. Be sure you cut all the way through to below the level you want. Then dig your finger tips and feel the layer below. Pull evenly across and it will peal right back. I've purchased two of these so far and will get more. ... show more
