UPDATE: I needed new shades for these lamps, so decided to try the ones that came with the lamps. They went together okay but are absolute junk, with raised ridges caused by twine or something, and bubbles under the trim. I don't know anyone who would actually use these shades. Honestly, they are awful. The lamps are nicely finished, but the shades are cheap looking. I had a problem with the pull chain sticking, so I contacted their Customer Service and asked what I might be doing wrong. They returned a note to me that they tried a selection of 10 random lamps from their inventory without issues. I like the lamps and didn't want to return them, so I sent a short note asking if I could use something like WD40 to get the chain to operate more smoothly without messing up the lamp. Silence. No reply. So I kept the lamps, replaced the shades, and have them on a timer, but I am a little irritated about their lack of Customer Service. It's clear to me they have no interest in satisfation once you buy their product. Would not use this company again if I have a choice. ... show more

    • Save Us From The Styrofoam!
The package was filled with Styrofoam bits that ended everywhere! Somehow, it ended up in our driveway which is upsetting my husband who works hard to give us a nice-looking place. The shades are Velcro and while attaching them to the frame, gave my husband papercuts. For the positive, we can change the shades and have nice looking lamps for our bedroom. These lamps need to be assembled. That wasn’t difficult. I didn’t get the clip that people mentioned but it’s easy to line up the Velcro metal lampshade rings with the Velcro lampshade cover. These lamps resemble expensive lamps once assembled. The gold finish is not shiny. Two problems: 1. The shade does not sit straight. I’m going to have to jerryrig it somehow. Or, I might try another lampshade configuration. I will because I love the lamp look. 2. The banding trim on the top of the shade is sort of wavy. I can turn it so it doesn’t show or try to glue it down. You will either love or hate these lamps. You can see by the other reviews. I love these lamps. If you are handy, you can figure it out. These lamps are a terrific value. They look so much more expensive than they were. The finish is a really pretty dark gold, and the shades are nice and heavy. I also really like the pull chain; I put them on the fireplace mantle and the pull chains are easier than a turn switch would be. I see that people complained about the assembly of the shades. They’re not wrong; it’s baffling at first, but probably a great analogy for how someone approaches life. If you look at it carefully and put your ingenuity to it, you’ll be proud of how great they turn out. Or maybe you’ll get mad and give up. Probably says as much about you as it does about the lamp shades, which I think are pretty genius. ... show more
