We needed a lamp for a dark corner of a room that would fit behind a corner table. This one seemed to fit the bill. When we received it I was surprised at the weight of the base. It seems to be solid marble. This turns out to be useful if you plan to use the pull chain to operate the switch. The included LED bulb turned out to be just right, proving adequate light with out that white glare you sometimes get with LED's. It is well made and all the seams fit together tightly so as to appear to be one piece. The assembly instructions would have you remove the socket from the lamp head to avoid twisting the cord while screwing the post to the base. I didn't see how that could help without completely removing the cord, which would be next to impossible to replace after the lamp was assembled. I left it together and carefully screwed the base to the pole while turning the cord as best as I could to keep it from twisting up. It may have a few turns in it but nothing that could be considered a hazard. It was neither the most expensive or the cheapest lamp we looked at, but we think it is a good value and expect to have it for many years. ... show more

I bought this for another light in my living room. It is classy looking and sturdy. The color is nice and neutral so it goes with many different looks.     • Excellent floor lamp with a GLASS SHADE!
This lamp is exactly what I have been looking for. A torchiere with a GLASS SHADE that takes three way incandescent. Finally a company that doesn’t cut corners and puts out a nice looking well made product. No cheap plastic shades here folks! UPDATE: May 31st 2020, my lamp is still going strong! I have no complaints about it. I just received my second one and can’t wait to get it set up. Why did I purchase a second one? Two reasons. I prefer incandescent over LED lighting because it’s a warmer light, and the new research that is coming out regarding LED lights and damage to the retina / vision.     • There are differences between lamps...and the cord is hard to hide
I needed two of these lamps in black to match the interior, so I first bought 1 to try. The item came very quickly and very well packaged, all in foam, no damages, no problems with assembly, looked nice, good black color of both the base and rod. I ordered a second one the same day (again, in black), but when I received it, everything was same but the base, it is more of abrown/bronze color with some golden circles around and looks obviously different than the black rod and the other lamp. So one star off for that. The sturdiness is ok, a little problem for me is that the inside base doesn't have any mechanism to hide the extra cord, so if you have your lamp standing close to the electric outlet, you'll have a bunch of your extra cord just lie about the floor. Attempting to hide it below the base makes the whole lamp unstable. Another star off for that. ... show more

I needed more light in my den and this was the perfect lamp to deliver light! It was easy to assemble (says 78 year old very arthritic woman) and I put it on a flat multi purpose dolly to get it to the corner I wanted wheeling it there on the dolly and basically assempled most of it on the dolly until I had to tilt it as I'm only 5'2" now. It went together perfectly. It is a heavy lamp - it looks very nice and has a soft light glow with the glass shade. goes to 150 watts. Also I wanted a lamp that used incandescent bulbs as I really hate LED lighting. Great torchiere lamp - love it! :) ... show more

This really lights up a room. The white frosted cover allows all the light to get through without the dimming that a tinted shade provides. Nice and sturdy too.

After I attached the shade that came rolled up, first I've ever seen anything like that. The shade has velcro to connect one side to the other. The natural shade looks to have a pink hue. The base seems to be sturdy, I've read a few reviews that say otherwise. It's shorter than a standard lamp, but does fit well in a corner as a reading light. It is what it is and I'm glad I didn't spend a fortune on this. ... show more
