Description

The On Stage Universal 2nd Tier keyboard stand attachment can be inserted into most X-style keyboard stands with round or square tubing. Then, a tightening knob expands the internal locking mechanism that secures the 2nd tier into position. A midpoint clutch featuring two disks with 36 inter-locking teeth lets you tilt the second tier to any position without worrying about slippage. The clutch is made with die-cast zinc adding strength to its grip on the user’s costly gear. An included stabilizer bar keeps the left and right tier members upright when it is properly assembled between the two members. An included telescoping stabilizer bar keeps the left and right tiers upright, it also adjusts the width with the 2nd tier.

  • MISSING PART!
This is a great product as far as the design. It allows one to add a tier to many different stands. I took advantage of a “Used” version of this product from Amazon. It saved me about $10 but unfortunately I am missing the entire cross-bar support. That is the adjustable, horizontal bar that ties the two arms together for more stability. My box did not have it or the knobs to secure it. I CAN use the two uprights without it, but feel I should have received it…after all, used means it has been “used,” not “missing pats.” Or, because I can limit the top shelf to light items, I’d be happy to receive a small refund because of the missing parts. I would ask Amazon directly but there does not seem to be any way to submit this feedback. I could only find the “return the item” button, and a link to the manufacturer who clearly is not at fault here. And by the way, the On-Stage site shows they offer the crossbar assembly but it is not in stock and there is no indication when it will be back in stock. So I am a bit frustrated!! Hello! Amazon!!! Anyone there? :) ... show more

  • Pleasantly Surprised - but Amazon had 2 different version being sold under the same model!
After looking to replace my 2-tiered stand with a 3-tiered stand and realizing that I was definitely going to lose money doing that, I just happened upon this product. It's On Stage and my stand is actually QuikLok, so I wasn't totally sure if it would work. Plus universal equipment, in my experience, has been universally bad at replicating the quality of a dedicated product. I was very pleasantly surprised though! This extra tier fits very tightly and is extremely sturdy. I saw some bad reviews from people who said it collapsed, but I don't know how that could happen unless the whole stand collapsed or they greatly exceeded the weight limits. It's actually MORE sturdy than the second tier on my stand. And here's the MAJOR benefit: I actually have two 2-tiered stands and a 1-tier stand, all from different manufacturers, and this fits on all 3! That means I can have any configuration of tiers that works for my current setup. This is some of the best money I've spent in a long time. I highly recommend this universal extra tier. WARNING: I ordered two of these and was just about to order a 3rd, when I started looking at the reviews again. As I read them, I realized that there are two different models, and I actually have one of each. I never noticed this because one is on a Z stand and one is on an X stand. It seems that On-Stage, maybe after all the bad reviews, updated their item and kept the same model number. I believe Amazon's photo is of the older version, where the posts connect to the back of the keyboard arms (and probably where the complaints about rust and broken welds come from). The new models connect the posts in the MIDDLE of the keyboard arms (see my photo from another seller). This gives a different experience when it comes to adjusting and how far away the new tier is from the player. I have the back connector on the Z stand and the middle connector on the X stand and that works. If I switch them, the Z stand works okay with the mid connector (a little far away), but the X stand with the back connector does not work at all. The third tier hangs out further than the second, basically in line with tier 1. I still love these. Mine work great in my studio with no problems at all. I'm not sure if I'm going to order my 3rd one from Amazon though since I have no idea what I'll get. ... show more

  • Had to rig a bit, keyboard slides off
I used this to put a Yamaha moxf6 above a 88key controller. Problems: one of the fittings didn’t expand enough to actually secure it in the tubing (1 inch round). I had to wrap it in a quarter inch of wrapping to make it big enough to actually secure. Otherwise it would literally just slide out. The other one was made properly and fit nice and tight (same tubing, same stand). The cross bar in the middle isn’t long enough to go across unless I rotate the arms inward, so their each 20 degrees of center now. Last issue is the little stoppers on the fron that keep the keyboard from sliding off when tilted, are only about .5 - .75 inches high and are slippery plastic. My moxf had a smooth angled bevel on its bottom edge so it was sliding a lot, I had to reduce the tilt to keep it from sliding off.. now only tiling maybe 15 degrees. All in all it works. But it’s not a great product. (Note: I bought mine from Amazon “used like new”) Putting it together would have been easy if the fitting worked and if the crossbar was longer. If the front slide stoppers were rubber and slightly taller it would be much more effective. ... show more

  • Not for all stands
Do not buy this stand if you purchase a pyle z heavy duty stand. It will not work the square inserts are huge on the z stands. This is the only reason I gave it a three star. Since I have a x stand with circle tubing I will make a third tier for and midi controller or a vintage synth that is light weight of course. I was hoping to stabilize my 88 key triton extreme on my second tier z since is wobbles. I wondering why companies have not build a universal crossbar like this 2 tier has. I rather not purchase a 400 dollar stand just for the 2 tier to be stable and not wobble. This unit is very solid, but please inspect before install because the 1 side teeth in the locking mechanism did not line up seem bent, but I line them up and tightened until the teeth is closed completely. I could return it but this is very useful for a future stand just make sure of its compatibility. Final thoughts. KM Spider pro seem like the only 2 tier that 2 88 key can fit but for the price you can build a custom wooden desk, or a company make a crossbar to stabilize any keyboard on the 2 tier. ... show more
