Description

The cyclonic flow rotor was designed to create a cyclonic Airflow, which significantly increases air flow through the ported rotor. Allows for a much faster drying time if the reel becomes wet, minimizing corrosion possibilities throughout the reel. The torsion control Armor design is made with Okuma C-40X long-strand carbon fiber technology. This not only makes the reel lighter, but also makes the reel extremely rigid which reduces twist and torque and keeps the internal parts in perfect alignment. Gear ratio 5. Weight. Drag. Helios SX spinning reel has 8 high performance bearings and 1 Rolling bearing with a cyclonic flow rotor. 0:1 with a 7. 2 oz.

  • I've been fishing Okuma for a long time ...
Style: Hsx-30, 125yds-10lb
I own four of these reels, 3 HSX-30 & 1 HSX-40 because I've had nothing but a great experience with these reels. These are very light weight and they handle torsion amazingly! Another reason I love these reels is because of the "Elliptical Gearing System" that keeps the line very even on the spool. I find it helps with longer casts when your line is evenly spread on the spool. All four reels I've spooled with braided line & fluorocarbon leader and these reels handle it perfectly, no need for backing because the spool are braid ready. I've included a photo of a 5.2lb bass that was caught using a HSX-30 on a med-light rod using a Z-Man TRD Craw Ned Rig. Oh, drag on these reels is amazing also ... smooth and strong when needed. I've never experienced any "jerky" drag peel on any of my four Helios. Tight Lines ! IG @__dgh__ ... show more

  • Nice reel
Style: Hsx-40s High Speed, 165yds-12lb
I ordered this reel after hours of OCD searching because I really couldn’t find anyone who said a bad word about it. It’s the most favorably reviewed reel under $100.00 that I found. After unboxing and handling/fiddling with it, the quality seems exceptional for a reel of this price. Tolerances are great, it’s smooth as silk, and it doesn’t make any funky noises. In fact, it’s really quiet. The bail action is great, much better than most other more expensive reels I’ve used. Maybe the best ever. Why four stars? My only criticism is, although very smooth, there is definitely a bit more effort in reeling, even with an empty spool. If I free spin my less expensive Daiwa Legalis or more expensive Shimano Stradic, the rotor will spin easily and freely for many rotations. This one gets maybe 3-1/2 or 4 turns. I’m guessing this could be caused by either an excessive amount of grease in the body or a much heavier reel grease than I’m accustomed to. If it doesn’t loosen up a bit on its own, I’ll disassemble it, clean, and re-grease it, but I don’t see this as being a potential problem. I can’t wait to fish this reel! I’ll update this post after a few trips to the river this spring. If it fishes half as good as it feels it will I’ll update to 5 stars for sure. ... show more

  • Very well made, precise and sturdy
Style: Hsx-40, 165yds-12lb
This reel is one of the smoothest reels that I've ever used. The action (over all reeling, drag and line flip) is extremely well balanced and smooth as silk! The only thing I don't like about it is that the reel bail is a slightly hard to flip after casting. However, I feel that it's because it's very new. The drag is the number # 1 most impressive thing about this reel. Next is the smoothness of how it spins and operates. I've had this reel for about a month already and have caught some huge fish with it. Check the photo! Last night's (9-9-2018) catch paired with an Okuma EVx rod. That's a 38" /12-3/4 lb Muskie that I landed with this rod n reel combo. Amazing! ... show more

  • NOT reversible. Left handed reel arrived. Cannot reverse. >20 years experience. do NOT buy.
Style: Hsx-40s High Speed, 165yds-12lb
The media could not be loaded. NOT able to reverse handle from left handed to right handed. Do NOT buy SUMMARY: 1. NOT REVERSIBLE. NOT ABLE TO CHANGE HAND FROM LEFT TO RIGHT OR VICE VERSA. 2. NOT RETURNABLE (SHIPPING TO CHINA IS NOT FREE AND COSTS OVER $50 3. EXPERIENCED FISHERMAN HERE (OVER 20 YEARS), OWN 4 DIFFERENT OKUMA REELS, AND > 20 Spinning reels used. Unfortunately this reel is not reversible. 4. When I contacted the company to report my issue I was told "all Okuma reels are reversible". I wish it was indeed reversible but sadly it is not and I made a video showing this. I will try to edit it and make it a smaller video and post it here. but trust me, you want to purchase something else. OK, here is the long version. I have purchased okuma reels in the past. All did not state right or left handed when purchased. All came configured for right handed fisherman. I bought this one. it was the second I purchased of this type. The reel arrived configured for a right handed person. This one arrived configured for a left handed person. Neither is reversible. Do not purchase. You might get a reel that is for a person who is left handed. I will never purchase from Okuma again. When I attempted to return I was informed that shipping was NOT free and it would cost over $50 to ship back to China. yikes! I found a left handed friend and will give the reel to him but this was a total waste of money for me. ... show more

  • Not for right handed fisherman.
Style: Hsx-30, 125yds-10lb
I just bought two reels the 30 sx model. You cannot switch the handle from left handed to right. Terrible design. I looked on line to see if there was another way to fix the issue because I thought it was so bizarre not to have the ability to just move the handle to the other side. I called Okuma and they asked me to send them back and that it must be defective. Its not defective it is just badly designed. If you are a left handed reeling person it works fine. But not for right handed reelers. Very disappointed. Scott Martin and Jacob Wheeler should know better than to advertise this product if it was defective. ... show more

  • Quality item; excellant price.
Style: Hsx-40, 165yds-12lb
Have not put much time on these reels yet, but my older Okuma spinning reels have been going strong for 15 years (solid use each year; freshwater and saltwater). I reserved one star because this newer reel has (lightening) holes drilled in the spool that will allow saltwater to splash on the main drive shaft. The older design has solid spools so the main shaft was shielded. Since the new reel does not have a rubber seal on the main shaft-to-bearing entry, I'm concerned that salt water will cause an earlier death for this design. ... show more

  • Very awesome feel.
Style: Hsx-40, 165yds-12lb
Love this reel. My boyfriend is jealous and I do plan on buying him one. I actually caught a 5lb trout on this. My biggest fish yet with 6 lb line. It casts smooth and I love it.

  • Great reel at a good price.
Style: Hsx-20, 120yds-8lb
Great multi-species spinning reel, have the 20 on a lightweight walleye rod, this is my 3rd Okuma reel (Ceymar, RTX-30) and while this one is the ‘chunkiest’ of the bunch for closing the bail (you do close the bail by hand, right?) it’s still miles better than any other spinning reel (Shimano, Plueger, Abu Garcia) that I own. Really it’s a great reel, if you get one you won’t be disappointed. ... show more
