  • Okuma Cold Water- seriously good reel!
Style: Cw-203dlx: 210 Yds-20lb, Left Hand Pattern Name: Trolling Reel
Have 4 of these now, oldest one has been in constant use for the last 5 years. All 203DLX models. Perfect for big chinook, coho, and steelhead, on the big river or ocean. Have twice had an oversized sturgeon take my salmon gear, first one was 10 feet long (estimated 400 lbs), and while I was nearly spooled initially, the reel held up. Next one was an 8 foot long sturgeon, a little easier to deal with but still took over half an hour to get it to the boat and released. The click adjust star drag is great. The line counter is good, the only problem can be if you reset to zero and the button sticks, so be sure to push down to reset to zero, then pull it up to make sure it engages. The winder works well. These reels are becoming super popular on the Columbia River and Buoy 10 fisheries, for good reason. My Abu Garcia 6501’s are all just backups now, my Okuma Magda reel was not impressive, but the Cold Water knocks it out of the park. ... show more

  • The go to reel for trolling!
Style: Cw-203d: 210 Yds-20lb Pattern Name: Trolling Reel
I was debating between the Convector again or the nicer cold water, I bought 1 coldwater to compare, biggest physical improvement over the convector I noticed was the reliability of the counter, i did everything I could to try to get the counter to mess up or stick like my convectors occasionally do but I couldnt, on top of that the reel feels and looks better in your hand, drag is silky smooth, lightweight, line guide works great, clicker has a little more resistance than the convectors which I like. Hard to believe you can get a reel of this quality for this price ... show more

  • Works great
Style: Cw-303d: 420 Yds-20lb Pattern Name: Trolling Reel
This is a great reel for the money. I use it rock fishing . After. 2 sessions of use the counter doesn’t work very good. The drag is now locking up so you can’t close the drag . Especially when you have a fish on. Hard to find someone to work on them. But for the money and a few seasons of use there great ... show more

Very smooth operating reel. The weight is great, not too heavy at all. The large handle is very comfortable.

  • Good smooth reels
Style: Cw-203dlx: 210 Yds-20lb, Left Hand Pattern Name: Trolling Reel
Okuma makes some very nice reels for the price point. I like the line leveler and the line counter placement. The gears and bearing are relatively smooth for a mid range reel. I bought the medium size for Kokanee and trout and the.larger size for small to medium salmon.

  • Good But...
Style: Cw-153dlx: 240 Yds-14lb, Left Hand Pattern Name: Trolling Reel
I purchased 6 of these reels for trolling walleye on Lake Michigan. Finally picked up some rods and spooled the reels. I set two stakes exactly 100 feet apart and added line to the reels then checked the calibration. First 3 spooled up great and with minor adjustment to the amount of line on the spool got the calibration dialed right in. The next two reels were a completely different story. I spooled them just like the first ones and checked calibration. 100 feet right on, reeled the line back up and the counter read something like 38 feet. Hmmmm??? zeroed the counter again walked to the other stake 100 feet again. Reel the line back up and the counter is reading 43 feet. Two of the six reels would read 100 feet of line out every time but read something different every time is was reeled back in. Poor quality control in my opinion since 4 of 6 reels work fine and 2 of them do not. That's a pretty high failure rate. I'd like to send them back but who's paying for the expensive line I put on them to find out the manufacturer did a poor job on 1/3 of my reels. Quite disappointed in the manufacturer and the quality of the product they are letting out of the plant. I do understand that there will be errors but 33% is unacceptable. If I failed in my job 1/3 of the time I wouldn't be employed. ... show more
