We are so excited about this TV stand with the fireplace. You can change the colors of the flames. You can also change the color of the lights. You can rotate the lights and the flames. It puts out pretty darn good heat. The main thing is the quality of this TV stand, it is so sturdy! The doors don't slam closed, they have the slow closing mechanism. The directions were easy to follow. Although it is time consuming to put together! There are a ton of pieces and this is going to take some time to put together. My wife and I just got done putting this together. As most others have noted, it is a bit time consuming. It probably took us about 5 hours to assemble. The instructions for the console itself were very clear and easy to follow. The unit is also sturdy when completed. It's a good looking piece of furniture to add to your living space. The problem with the firebox is that they don't tell you how to insert the crystals behind the glass. Several people in these reviews have noted that very thing. However I couldn't find any reviews that explained how they solved their problem. It's actually very easy once you figure it out. But I'll save you the 20 minutes that it took me to figure it out. On the back of the frame that surrounds the glass there are 4 screws. 1 on the top and 1 on the bottom of the left side and the same thing for the right side. Just take out those 4 screws and that will separate the glass frame from the body of the firebox. Insert the crystals and re-attach the glass and frame and you're pretty much ready to insert the firebox into the console. As I said a nice, sturdy, well-made piece of furniture that we hope to enjoy for years to come. We spent a lot of time looking at different fireplaces and we are happy that we settled on this one. ... show more

I am mechanically inclined and own all the tools necessary to build a house. However, reading that other people completed the assembly of this product within 2 hours is not true. It's not about strength or ego, it's about time. The number of panels, pieces, and attachments, must be close to 300 items. Unloading the two very large boxes that weigh one hundred pounds each will take at least an hour! I was able to assemble the entire TV stand by myself, but it casually took me 2 hours per day for about 3 days. With that said, I have a perfectly constructed TV stand without a single scratch or crooked drawer, which is important to me. I have hardwood floors so I was able to benefit by sticking 1" round felt sliders along the bottom during assembly. This enables me to "easily" push a two-hundred-pound piece of furniture with ease. I strongly recommend a power screwdriver that limits the torque so you don't blow through the pre-drilled holes. Yes, all of the panels are made from weak, composite wood, but when fully assembled properly the item is nearly a bulletproof beast. The heater works so well that if you hold your hand up the the vent within 6 inches, you will have 3rd degree burns within 5-10 seconds! Very dangerous if you have young kids. Fortunately, there is a built-in thermostat and timer for the heater that you can control. The lighting feature is fantastic. You can separately change the color and height of the flame, independent of the fake crystal rocks and side cabinet shelves. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. If there is a downside, it's the amount of time and space needed to build this product. ... show more

It took me 2 days to put it together by myself. The instructions are mostly correct =) It looks nice but the material is very cheap particle board with plastic covering the edges. The plastic on the corner is already separated. There was also a handle square missing (lower right in picture). The drawers and doors work nice. First, if you don't like assembling things, this is not for you. Yes, there are a ton of pieces and the instructions could have been a bit more detailed, but it was all extremely well packed and I followed it just fine. I was seriously concerned after seeing the huge, heavy boxes they came in, but I think half the weight was the packing materials. Now, there are a couple of points during assembly when having a second pair of hands is beneficial, like turning it right side up, otherwise one person could definitely assemble it. Make sure you have plenty of room. If fact, it's probably best to assemble it in the room you plan to put it in. As well, while it's still upside down, if you have any of those little adhesive felt floor slider/protector things, that's the time to put them. One last thing, you have to unscrew the glass from the fireplace to manually place the acrylic crystals, which must be done before you insert it into the console. All in all, I'm very pleased with the look, quality and sturdiness. As an added note, our soundbar fit well in the space above the fireplace, so if you have one, that may be of interest to you. Another thing, the instructions for the fireplace say not to use an extension cord, to use a dedicated outlet and not to plug anything else into that outlet.
