I got this to use around the house to see in small spaces, but also for a project of mine. I've been monitoring bird nests as part of the nest watch project and thought that this endoscope would let me see into nest boxes without opening the box. This has worked well, although I'm still working on my "aiming" ability. The picture quality is excellent and I can easily snap photos or take videos onto a small SD card. This has made nest monitoring a lot less intrusive (at least I hope so). I know this is kind of a specific thing, but I think it highlights ways this endoscope can be used for many different purposes. Here are more details about using it. The unit comes with a long, flexible tube that ends in a tiny camera surrounded by lights. I can manage the intensity of the light through a small, marked wheel on the side of the monitor box. The camera tube is connected to the monitoring base unit via a USB connector. I did find that once or twice, the USB connector wasn't plugged in all the way and the monitoring unit reported that it couldn't connect to the camera, but pushing the USB connector back into place solved that, so it's not a problem, just something I check now before I use the unit. Ilike the fact that I can dial down the intensity of the light so easily. The base unit is very simple to operate and shows clearly what is visible through the camera It comes with a small micro SD card and all I had to do was to plug in the unit to a USB charger to charge it up. I've used it several times without having to recharge. The photos I've taken have been clear, so it does exactly what I wanted it to do. I've even been able to use velcro straps and strap the camera to a long piece of bamboo to hold the camera head up to see what was in a nest about 15 feet up in a tree. This little camera and monitoring unit is one of the most useful things I've purchased in a long time. It works well, takes clear photos/videos, and is super easy. Basically, when I turn it on and get the camera positioned, all I have to do is press the little OK button to take photos as it defaults to take photos. If I want a video, I just use the right arrow to point to the video camera icon and press okay to start/stop. Very easy. And besides my pet project, I've found it useful to look behind heavy furniture or under things to find stuff like presence or absence of dog toys so I don't have to move something heavy only to find the toy was not there anyway. I wanted to determine where the leak in my roof was above my main bathroom. I inserted the camera thru a small hole I drilled in the vent tube. I found it difficult to tell exactly where the leak was coming in the low light area. When the camera is close enough to a target, I found the image to be excellent. Main issue I had was trying to get the camera pointed to where I wanted it to go. The wire cord is a little stiff and wants to retain it's shape which can be hard to aim thru a small hole. It did come fully charged, nicely packaged, and worked right out of the box. In all fairness, this was my first time using a device like this so it could very well be I just need more practice. The Oiiwak endoscope worked great for about 5 years; used it about 10-15 times but then the scope cable developed some problem and won't light up the camera and the console does not recognize it. I would liked to purchase a replacement cable but I can't find a source for a replacement part. I have the console that seems to be fine but useless without the scope cable. So the Oiiwak endoscope is functional but not durable in my experience. I will purchase a different brand and hope for more durability. ... show more

Saw a Utoob video about a car repair situation. He showed this brand of endoscope to troubleshoot the problem. My company had a Milwaukee rechargeable one, but the head was too large to go into the port to test for the problem. This worked exactly as promised and the small diameter of the camera can allow you to look at almost anything. I'm sure this happens with all of them, but sometimes it's hard to orient the head to the "top" position since the cord is long, and you can end up with a non-sensical image because you are trying to rotate the cord which invariably ends up with rotating the screen at some point. The analog setting for the lamp is a good idea, though in a dark space like the inside of a ventilation system it was sometimes hard to adjust. ... show more

Starting off, the first one purchased didn’t work, just said “Please waiting” on it. They sent me another, the camera worked, but none of the buttons worked, like it didn’t take pictures or video, but we accepted it as I can always film the video or take a picture with my phone, which is easier than the memory stick they give you. Yes it comes with one. That being said, we were able to use it to locate and light up a cleaning brush that got caught in our shower line-drain. This camera was clear and bright enough to allow us to get a grabber tool in there to snag the old cleaning brush and pull it out. A plumber would have charged us twice what this costs to do that. So I saved money with it, and have a nice tool for some other time. It may not last, like others have said, but it was great for this one time use.
