I will admit I am a novice when it comes to diagnostic scanners. I read all the reviews and watched the YouTube videos and settled on the TopDon because of the live data, transmission temp reading and no subscription necessary. Your needs maybe different but those are what I needed. Transmission temp for my Nissan; need to know that to change the fluid. No subscription because I'm not a pro. This comes with way more than your average DIY'er is going to need.     • Perfect for a diy'r - saved 100's in the first use
I have used several obd dongle type scanners but webt down the research rabbit hole when an airbag light popped up on my wife's Nissan and the dealer quoted $400 just to diagnose it! This model seemed to be well regarded and purported to read abs and srs codes. Another scanner I tried also said it would read srs codes but after purchasing it I found that to only be true for certain vehicles and returned it. This unit did exactly t ly as promised. Setup was easy -after setting it up on wifi I updated the unit' downloaded the nissan specific package and off it went. The whole process was fast and smooth. With the inits wifi connectivity, I was able to determine online right from the unit that the airbag light was a simple consequence of a failing battery and saved the $400 diagnosis fee. The only issue I've run into is that at this price point the unit does not have much memory so I've needed to purge each manufacturer package in order to install a new one. Overall this works well and I would highly recommend it to other diy users ... show more

great scanner with many options but only one thing is not easy to find the electronic brakes retraction of brake piston it is really hard to find takes too much time to find should be very easy as most of the cars are with electronic brakes

Awesome unit! If you are "Backyard Wrench-Mechanic" like I am you'll need a unit like this one in your arsenal of tools. Todays vehicles are very complicated and you need a computer to read the computer. This one does that very well. I really like this unit. Easy to read and operate. This scanner sucks bad. Dosent work Dosent charge wasted my hard earned money and now I’m pissed off. Go buy a autel or a good scanner this one will make you wish you put the money on the lotto have a better chance of that working then this pos thanks
