Does every thing it says it does. Some things like throttle body relearn are named differently to the effect of “idle learn reset”. But it does do the relearn process which is why I wanted this device. After completing, you can verify with the live data that the throttle body is “learned” as it will be stated in the data next to it. Requires some tinkering around in the software to get the hang of the interface but it’s no harder then your average smart phone so most individuals will figure it out pretty quickly. Has more features then I’ll personally ever use but I’m sure my mechanic friends will be borrowing this from me and using it more then I. Worth every penny since a throttle body relearn at the shop is normally around $200 not to mention the wait time the vehicle has to be at the shop, this came in overnight and the relearn process took less then 3 minutes. ... show more

    • Nice OBD2 Scanner For a Great Price
I have a high end OBD2 scanner and it works great. I saw this tablet style OBD2 scanner for its great price and decided to purchase it as a backup and to carry with me in my car all the time. It is nice to plug into your vehicle or a friends vehicle to check a code. This tablet scanner is easy to register and comes with updates on software included. I ran my high end scanner and this scanner on the same vehicle and this tablet scanner picked up all of the same codes and also allowed me to email myself with the printout. I am very happy with this purchase. The seller's service was good and the item was received in very good condition. If I decide to give a scanner as a gift I will buy this one again. Nice obd2 scanner that does many things. If it was bi-directional then this scanner would be better. I used this to reset my SRS light, but then found out I needed to recalibrate my seat which this scanner does not do unfortunately.

    • Easy for a shadetree mechanic to use
I installed a new throttle body on my 2010 Tahoe and tried all of the resets like running the engine 3 minutes, then off 1 minute, then run 3 more minutes. Those did not work at all. Idle was all over the place. I bought this and did the easy setup. Went to tps relearn and in 5 seconds the idle was perfect. ... show more

    • Didn't work for me.
It started out as a great tool. I have three vehicle's. 06 Nissan 350z, 18 Tacoma and a 14 BMW X5. Before using the tool, I did update all the software and upgraded the firmware. It worked great at first on the Z and Tacoma. The BMW is the one with the check engine light. I tried scanning it, auto scan failed so I entered manually. It did work but it showed everything "not connected" So I tried it on my Tacoma and Z. Same thing, the auto scan failed, entered the vin manually and it couldn't read anything. I tried several times on all three. Just ended up returning it and bought the AD600 since it was on sale. So far, the 600 is working much better. It scans all three of my vehicles and it cleared the code on my X5. I wanted to like the 500. Maybe other's will have better luck than me. TOPDON is support is what made stay with the brand and get the AD600. Yeah, there's other hardware out there but support is iffy. Edit: TOPDON service is outstanding. After returning the AD500 I purchased the AD600 and was offered discount. The 600 works much better. Don't know what happened with the 500 model. ... show more

    • A necessary tool formtodays vehicles
For the home mechanic, this is, unfortunately, a necessary diagnostic computer needed to troubleshoot today's vehicle issues. I bought it to retract electric emergency brakes, one of the least smart things I've seen on a modern vehicle today. It does a whole slew of diagnostics and controls. What I really don't like about this it will need access to your wifi and you'll have to download service e items for the vehicle make you own. I don't trust that this scanner connected to a server in China and is probably monitoring my network. Besides the cloao and dagger items, it's an affordable, easy to use and intuitive scanner that does.more that just display scan codes. Unless you're a pro, there's no need for a matco or snap on 10000$ scanner. This one works just fine ... show more
