The mattress... it is firm. Arguably, it is a 10 out of 10 on the firm scale. I doubt it could be more firm, and I couldn't sell it as medium firm or medium to my spouse by any stretch of the imagination. I expected this as I bought a firm mattress. For as firm as it is, the surface feels nice when touching, sitting, and laying. The surface is smooth and flat and feels uniform despite the visually textured cover. There appears to be some type of stable foam or stable cushion of some sort because you cannot feel the spring/support structure at all which is impressive given its overall firm feel. It does have some bounce which you should be prepared for. If I were sharing with another person or pet, the motion may/will not be isolated. When I toss and turn over there is not too much bounce, meaning I can deal with it as it stops when I stop, but another entity in the bed may likely prove too much. It somewhat reminds me of the feel of a (my opinion) maximally inflated air mattress with the "light" and "on top feel." When changing positions, I almost feel as if my body may sway for a quick moment because I have never felt so light when flopping around. Does it sink? When sitting on the edge it absolutely does not sink. When laying, there is no sink under my middle-aged average body. If you step on the bed it barely gives. The tightly sprung construction holds firm and stable under pressure. Visually, the construction is looking good. The delivery was seamless. The packaging was better than how much more expensive mattresses from specialized mattress retailers have been delivered. It came packaged in plastic but then further carefully customed boxed in heavy cardboard. My 13" mattress was 14.5" in height on center. The photo with the mattress placed flat on the floor with a large-sized level will demonstrate this. Unfortunately, in my situation, this quashed my intention for its use but I imagine in most scenarios the added height may be a bonus. It certainly does look nice at a glance with its substantial profile. Hopefully, this review can be helpful as buying a mattress online is one crazy stressful blind date! ... show more

Listen- I’ve been buying mattresses for years trying to find a firm mattress for a bad back! In the last ten years, I've spent thousands on mattresses and pads to make my bed firmer... Yet the Nulan 14-inch has been one of the cheaper mattresses and has been the best! This double-sided beaut is just what I was looking for… firm and firm! I can even sleep on my back which I haven’t been able to do for years! I’m a bigger person and this mattress has passed two months and is still as good as when I first bought it because if you have been searching for a firm mattress you know they all start out firm and then quickly lose their firmness and shape. This is a mattress you can trust! Better than my Stearns and Foster I paid 4 times the amount for and then had to add pads and sleep on the edge! Run to get this mattress! I do want to say this is a bouncy mattress. It doesn't bother me but I read quite a few reviews that mentioned it... i just don't see how you would have a firm innerspring mattress that can hold weight without some bounce... I'm not an engineer. So, to have a firm mattress that can be supportive and firm, well that is the most important thing to me! ... show more

This mattress was purchased for a heavy set person with scoliosis, and it is holding up very well . It is double sided and can be turned over, which will make it last longer. It is hard to find a double sided twin mattress in any furniture store. Very comfortable and I would definitely recommend this mattress to anybody with back problem or with a little extra weight on them. Very affordable price.
