    • Works well but don't expect a lot of ice in minutes
I always seem to be running out of ice at parties, especially holiday parties. Ice is the item I most commonly forget to purchase when I run to the store, of course. I do have an ice maker/dispenser on my fridge but it doesn't make ice very quickly and I also have to remember to pre-make and store ice cubes if I plan a party-also something I forget to do! I thought this ice machine would be a handy and fun party item. Well, it IS handy and it IS fun but it IS kind of slow if you need lots of ice! Still, I do like this cute little ice machine. Mine arrived upside down, which is really not good for a unit that has coolant in it. Per the instructions, I let it sit in the proper position with the lid opened for well over the 2 hours recommended in the instruction sheet. The instructions are a little confusing. There is a manual and a separate quick start sheet and each one instructs the user how to clean the machine-each instruction is different. One is with baking soda and water and the other is with white vinegar. I decided that meant to use the baking soda mixture prior to the first use and the white vinegar as a method to use after the machine has been employed for a while and needs a cleaning. I hope I was right. The overall instructions could be clearer but it's not too difficult to figure out. It took about 12 minutes to make the first batch of "large" sized, bullet shaped cubes. It makes the small sized cubes a few minutes quicker. I didn't see a big difference in size from large o small so I would probably always go with small since it's a little faster. You do only get 8 cubes per cycle. I put in 40 oz of water (to the "max" line) and it took about an hour to finish making cubes. I actually forgot it was making cubes so the basket was full when the alarm notified me it was done. I thought I was going to have a watery mess, given the machine is not meant to house the ice once it's made, but all the cubes were well formed and not sticking together so I was pleased about that. You do need to be attentive though and remove the ice as it's made. If you are diligent about making your ice and retrieving it promptly, you should be able to supply a small gathering of friends with enough ice for their drinks but do not rely on this machine to be your sole supply of ice for cocktail parties with may people. The unit itself is about the size of a small bread machine. It has a handle so it's easy to transport and it's not very heavy. You do still need room to store it somewhere if you're not going to have it in service regularly. I think this is an item that needs to be used to be kept in good working order so you should have it handy to run some water through every now and then. This machine is worth it for me because when I suddenly remember that I forgot to buy ice about an hour before my party, I can get busy and start doing that while I'm still home prepping food rather than flying out to the store in a mad dash or calling a friend to make a pitstop to buy me a bag of ice! ... show more

    • Must have for parties!
This is the perfect ice maker for summer parties. Turn it on overnight and have it start making the ice. We keep it by the outdoor bar and everyone always has ice. It’s always hard to keep up with the ice outside with a lot of people. This ice maker makes the ice surprisingly fast and is very convenient. Now we also put a water pitcher next to it to keep it filled with water. There was only once instance where we had to empty out the main freezer ice bucket (when we didn’t fill the reservoir). Maybe if it had a larger water reservoir it would be better, but then the machine would be bigger and bulkier. I prefer the compact size. ... show more

    • Great for everyday use
We go through so much ice in my house and this turned out to be the perfect solution. We never run out now. It yields enough ice and I have not had any problems with the operation of the device. Overall, it's a great product I highly recommend.

    • Great bullet ice machine
This is a small, fast working ice maker that produces bullet ice. We worked it pretty hard over the holidays and it makes enough ice for 1 heavy drinker or 3 casual drinkers and remains full. It takes about 6 minutes to produce 8 ice cubes. It's noted that this is not a freezer. Once the ice is made it enters the holding chamber. If it's not used it starts to melt. It can be added to a freezer for long term storage. When not in use it is important this is cleaned out and fully dry to prevent any mold, which is easy to do by leaving the door open for a day. The extension cord is heavy duty. The first few batches of ice come out a little warped after this is shipped or moved from place to place, but then they become consistent. Very good portable ice maker, this is a must have. I have hard water in my town so I don’t use it for drinking, I got this and I love it so far. The size of the ice is perfect and so crisp. I haven’t tried the self cleaning method yet, but I’m sure it’s going to work well.
