It is low enough to the ground for them to rest their feet comfortably. The bowl is plenty deep, so no worries about overflow. I have a speech-delayed, hyperactive 4 year old son who is quite big for his age. When we first attempted potty training we didn't even bother with anything like this and went straight to the bathroom to use the real thing. My biggest concern was that many training toilets have a smaller weight capacity. Needless to say focusing on the real version was rough Fast forward to buying this trainer toilet. First off, my son is 4 feet tall and 60lbs. He often takes this to use as a stool and it doesn't even buckle against his weight. He fits on it without issue and has no issue using it. Second, the design is so much like the real thing, and the flush function is perfect. It sounds just like a real toilet and he loves to "flush" when he's done!!!! Third, clean up is so easy.
