  • Very Satisfied
Size: 9 Color: Tan/Dark Honey
I tested these boots against another very well known brand that were priced at 2x the price of these boots. I sent the well known brand back, not because of price but because they were not as comfortable as the Northside boots. After owning these boots for less than 7 days I hiked the bottom of the canyon at Natural Bridges National Monument (last week). It was only a 7 1/2 mile hike but to get in and out of the canyon you descend a cliff wall of about 1000 feet, then hike through the canyon and climb back out of the canyon at least the same 1000 feet. My climb out was in much more difficult terrain than going in. So, my feet were very comfortable, no blisters, no sliding around inside the boot. The worst thing was my feet were warm at the end but the temps in the desert were in the low 70's and these are insulated boots, so no deductions for that. 5+ stars because they are so reasonably priced! ... show more

  • Not wide and too hard
Size: 10.5 Wide Color: Tan/Dark Honey
I ordered a 9.5 men's and I wear an 11 woman's. I ordered it in wide just to be sure that they fit. The 9.5 just barely fit, my toes were rubbing against the side and the front of the shoes and the shoes are too hard no cushion at all. If they are to be used for hiking it should be a little bit of flexibility. I wore them for a day and my feet were sore in the end. I tried for an exchange in a 10.5 that came today and to be honest I really didn't notice a difference in how the 9.5 fit compared to the 10.5. They were still stiff and hard and my toes continued to rub the sides. These are definitely not for anyone with a wide foot especially a man. If they were true to size the 9.5 would have been a little big and the 10.5 would have been too big. Not recommended for men with wide feet or woman for that matter, buy if you want sore achy feet and the end of the day. ... show more

  • Bad
Size: 11.5 Color: Tan/Dark Honey
These boots are terrible. They are NOT waterproof !! The description of the boot in the advertisement has WATERPROOF in all caps, like I just did. However, these boots are not even water-resistant !! Walk through the yard in the morning with a little bit of dew on the grass.... WET feet !! It is a shame, because the boot is comfortable. But the boot is ruined by not being waterproof. Do Not buy this boot!! ... show more

  • Soles wear out in record time!
Size: 10 Wide Color: Tan/Dark Honey
I bought these at the end of 2015 in anticipation of using them for walking and hiking in the spring and summer of 2016. By the time the spring was at its end the soles of these shoes were already worn out with cracks running through them. What's really sad is that in pretty much every other respect I got what I wanted. They fit well, were comfortable, and would have enjoyed having them for at least a year. A year is what I can generally expect to get out of a show that I wear most days. I'm actually wearing these right now. It's raining, and now my feet are damp because the rain has come through the soles. I've never had a pair of shoes wear out this quickly. ... show more

  • It provides EXCELLENT grip on steep rocks
Size: 10 Color: Tan/Dark Honey
For me, it's run a little large. I've had this for a year now and wanted to test it in all terrains before I wrote an honest. The leather sides aren't as water resistant as I would have preferred, but that was corrected with a few applications of the silicone spray. The laces that came with it wore down in a few months, so I replaced them with boot laces from Wal-Mart. It does well walking on paths and muddy areas of SW Florida, used it for many Boy Scout camping trips. It provides EXCELLENT grip on steep rocks. I walked a mountain trail in New Hampshire recently and was surprised at how well the soles of the shoe absorbed the shock of stepping on rocks at jagged edges and the grip it provided walking up and down the rocks. I would honestly expect a poorer quality product for the price. I'm pleasantly surprised. ... show more

  • no support or protection, wounded myself on first hike
Size: 12 Wide Color: Bark/Orange
I bought these boots for a trip to a National Park, and brought only them, leaving my sneakers at home. Within 1/4 mile on Day 1, I realized I had made a mistake. My feet already hurt and the lining provided no protection. Of course, each hike in the park was about 4 miles, and I didn't want to miss anything, so I powered through it. By the end of Day 2, I had two blisters on my left foot, and the toes on my right had jammed into the toe of the boot on every downhill step, so often two of my toenails are now a bluish purple color. I'd post pictures, but they're disgusting. Definitely not recommended. Don't be suckered by the price. Buy an actual brand name. I'll never buy this brand again. I wish I could get a refund. ... show more

  • Comfy and warm ***but don't last.
Size: 11.5 Wide Color: Bark/Orange
Great price on these boots. One day to break in and they are a fine fit. I wear an 11 wide normally but ordered 1/2 size larger to accommodate a heavier sock. Not yet done any distance but seem to be fine with walks around the neighborhood and such. I'll report any issues once I get a couple of hikes in. ***Well I have had these for about 3 months now. Wearing them for yard work and short hikes. Yesterday one of the eyelets pulled out and now my review is that you get what you pay for. I'm not hard on my foot wear so I'd avoid these. ... show more

  • Defective Engineering Design; Metal in rivets too thin.
Size: 11.5 Wide Color: Bark/Orange
Overall, the boots looked like they were acceptably made...until I tried lacing them up for the first time. The rivet that holds the "grommet" for lacing up the shoes was defective in that the metal was so thin that it simply broke the first time I tried lacing them up. The FIRST time! I did not even get to the point where I could lace them up and see whether or not they were comfortable and supportive. See the attached photo showing how thin the metal was where the rivet broke. Note that this was not due to problems with manufacturing assembly. The shoes looked as if they were acceptably made and I was excited to find them in a wide size. Instead, the rivets were too cheap in that the engineering design left them with the metal being too thin and prone to early breakage. Note that I am a retired senior citizen with arthritis in my hands, so I did not put that much strength into the laces. ... show more
