So it turns out I was tamping with ... 70lbs or more. My little espresso machine has a strong pump and tends to espress even fine espresso grinds in about half time - hence my bad habit. Default spring is a 25lbs. Tamped well with my original racilio double portafilter. Espresso sweet and strong. Comes apart well enough - springs look fairly standard though I have little intent to change them; but nice to know how to go to 15lb or 30lb if I want. Cleaning should be easy, bottom unscrews easily for the occasional deeper clean. Box is nice and Ill keep the extras in there for storage. For the price it is a little above my expectations. Maybe I would like to see more construction on the tap into the base - maybe a better lock there. I would have liked a clicker tamper but thats no issue - just slow press until the big spring is felt taking over the load. ... show more

This tamper makes it so easy to get consistent shots. It fits perfectly in a (ridgeless) VST basket and leaves evenly-packed (with WDT), level grounds every time. No more worrying about tamping pressure or angle! It is well-built -- nice and weighty and feels good in the hand. I did read one review, saying that this didn’t work in the rocket, and that it got stuck. However, the overall reviews made me want to try it for myself. I was not disappointed. I have a rocket Apartamento and it fits perfectly on my various baskets I’ve never had such a consistent shot. Updated: I changed the rating from 1 star to 5 stars for the service. After I have added my review, the seller contacted me and offer to send me a replacement. I think this is a good customer service. So I changed the rating, primarily due to the customer service of this seller. ************************************************* The tamper worked OK for the first 2 and a half weeks, and then something liked crooked inside and it is not level anymore.
